MISSION 778S NETWORK MUSIC STREAMER LAUNCHED
Mission has announced the new Mission 778S Network Music Streamer, its first dedicated network music player.
Designed to partner neatly with the company’s compact 778X integrated amplifier, the Mission 778S Network Music Streamer is intended to sit comfortably within a wide range of systems.
MISSION 778S NETWORK MUSIC STREAMER
The Mission 778S Network Music Streamer uses the same compact chassis as the 778X, measuring 236 x 98 x 357mm (WxHxD). The front panel features two rotary controls for selection and volume, arranged symmetrically around a dimmable OLED display. The streamer will be available in black or silver finishes.

Despite its small size, the Mission 778S Network Music Streamer offers extensive connectivity. Network access is provided via dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet. Additional digital inputs include USB-C for PC or Mac connection and two USB-A ports for local USB storage.
Analogue outputs are available on balanced XLR and single-ended RCA connections, while digital outputs include coaxial, optical and USB-A for use with an external DAC. A 6.35mm headphone output allows the Mission 778S Network Music Streamer to be used without a separate amplifier.

STREAMING PLATFORM PARTNERSHIP WITH SILENT ANGEL
For its streaming platform, Mission partnered with Silent Angel, a company known for its network audio technology. A customised version of Silent Angel’s streaming engine is integrated with Mission’s own circuit design. Processing is handled by ARM Cortex-A72 and Cortex-A53 multi-core CPUs, with control provided by an iOS and Android app based on Silent Angel’s VitOS software.
The Mission 778S Network Music Streamer supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and TuneIn Radio, all embedded directly. Apple users can also stream via AirPlay 2. UPnP/DLNA compliance allows playback from networked devices such as NAS drives, and the streamer is certified Roon Ready, supporting RAAT for integration into Roon-based systems.

DAC AND INTERNAL ENGINEERING OF THE MISSION 778S NETWORK MUSIC STREAMER
Digital-to-analogue conversion in the Mission 778S Network Music Streamer is handled by an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M 32-bit DAC. Mission has implemented proprietary clocking, power supply and analogue filtering stages, including a Class A post-DAC filter.
The internal layout features a linear power supply with a toroidal transformer, plus multiple dedicated low-noise regulators for the digital and analogue sections. Balanced analogue circuitry feeds the XLR outputs, while the headphone stage uses a current-feedback design.

AUDIO FORMAT SUPPORT
Hi-res audio support includes PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD up to DSD512. Supported formats cover FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, APE and DSD (DSF, DIFF and DoP), alongside MP3, WMA, AAC and OGG.
By default, PCM streams are upsampled to 352.8kHz or 384kHz before conversion, although users can disable this and select from five DAC reconstruction filters.

MISSION 778S NETWORK MUSIC STREAMER AVAILABILITY AND PRICE
The Mission 778S Network Music Streamer is due to be available from late January 2026 in black or silver finishes, with an RRP of £799.
HiFi PiG Says: The Mission and Silent Angel Partnership looks like it will bring comprehensive and affordable streaming options to Mission fans.
