Transrotor TRA 9 With In-akustik AIR Pure Silver Tonearm Wiring
TRANSROTOR TRA 9 AND IN-AKUSTIK COLLABORATION
Transrotor and in-akustik have announced a collaboration that sees the Transrotor TRA 9 tonearm become available with in-akustik Reference AIR Pure Silver internal wiring.
The two German manufacturers are combining Transrotor’s tonearm engineering with in-akustik’s AIR cable technology.

The in-akustik AIR wiring is integrated directly into the TRA 9 tonearm and runs continuously from the cartridge through to the external connections, avoiding an additional plug connection within the tonearm. The AIR design uses an air dielectric and defined conductor geometry intended to keep electrical capacitance low, along with high-purity silver conductors and shielding that continues through to the solder connections.



Fitting the AIR wiring is carried out by hand at in-akustik. The fine conductors have to be routed through the tonearm before being incorporated into the AIR structure, a process the company says requires specialist experience and manual skill. New TRA 9 tonearms are sent to in-akustik for the work, while existing TRA 9 tonearms can also be retrofitted with the AIR wiring.
TRANSROTOR TRA 9 SPECIFICATION
The TRA 9 uses a double tonearm tube made from two different aluminium alloys, with interchangeable brass counterweights and magnetic anti-skating adjustment. Its effective mass is 18g, while the effective tonearm length is 232.8mm for the 9-inch version or 308.2mm for the 12-inch version. The tonearm is now available with the in-akustik AIR wiring.


TRANSROTOR TRA 9 PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The Transrotor TRA 9 is available from €5,900, while the in-akustik AIR Pure Silver wiring is a €4,000 additional cost. Existing TRA 9 tonearms can be upgraded for the same €4,000 surcharge as the AIR wiring option on a new tonearm.
