Technics SL-1200 Series 55th Anniversary Celebrated With Yousuke Yukimatsu DJ Set
TECHNICS SL-1200 SERIES 55TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT
Technics has announced a special vinyl DJ performance by Japanese DJ Yousuke Yukimatsu to mark the upcoming 55th anniversary of the SL-1200 Series, which reaches the milestone in 2027.
The performance was filmed at Tokyo Tower and will premiere globally on 18th of August 2026 via RA Live on Resident Advisor’s YouTube channel.
YOUSUKE YUKIMATSU JOINS TECHNICS SL-1200 SERIES CELEBRATION
The all-vinyl DJ set was recorded on the Top Deck of Tokyo Tower, around 250 metres above ground, in collaboration with Japanese music and culture streaming platform DOMMUNE. According to Technics, the performance forms part of the anniversary theme, “The Legend Keeps Spinning”, celebrating the continuing relationship between the SL-1200 Series, vinyl playback and DJ culture.

The premiere is scheduled for 18 August 2026 at 6:00pm CEST (5:00pm BST) and will be available as a free YouTube Premiere through Resident Advisor. The YouTube link will be announced before the event.
ABOUT YOUSUKE YUKIMATSU
Yousuke Yukimatsu is a Japanese DJ from Osaka, now based in Tokyo, whose reputation has grown internationally for his unpredictable, genre-spanning vinyl and digital sets that move between techno, ambient, industrial, pop and experimental music. Although he had been active in Japan’s underground club scene for years while working in construction, a malignant brain tumour diagnosis in 2016 prompted him to leave his day job and pursue DJing full-time after successful treatment. Since then he has become one of electronic music’s most talked-about selectors, with performances at events including Berlin Atonal and Coachella, while his 2025 Boiler Room Tokyo set introduced his distinctive style to a much wider global audience.
