Audio Group Denmark has announced the availability of the new Børresen BM3 Bass Module 3, a dedicated low-frequency module designed to partner with high-end loudspeaker systems.

The Børresen BM3 is designed and handcrafted in Denmark and has been developed by Michael Børresen and Flemming Erik Rasmussen.

BØRRESEN BM3 BASS MODULE 3

The Børresen BM3 is built around a folded dipole architecture rather than a conventional sealed or ported subwoofer design. This approach uses opposing driver polarities to reduce room pressurisation and self-generated vibration, with the aim of making integration with a listening room and main loudspeakers more predictable.

The design is intended to allow the Børresen BM3 to operate as a bass extension rather than a standalone subwoofer, focusing on time alignment and controlled low-frequency output.

BØRRESEN BM3 DRIVER AND AMPLIFIER CONFIGURATION

Low frequencies are handled by four 8-inch Børresen DCC8 Neo drivers, arranged in a boxer-style configuration. The drivers use spread-tow carbon fibre diaphragms with an aramid honeycomb core, chosen for low mass and structural rigidity.

Power is supplied by a built-in 2 × 300W amplifier using Pascal technology with UMAC switching modulation. According to the manufacturer, this amplification approach is designed to offer low noise, low output impedance, and precise control over the drivers across the operating range.

BØRRESEN BM3 AND ANALOGUE CROSSOVER IMPLEMENTATION

The Børresen BM3 includes a fully analogue, adjustable low-pass crossover operating between 30Hz and 80Hz. The crossover is intended to integrate with a wide range of loudspeakers without introducing digital processing or signal delay.

By limiting output to the intended bass range, the crossover aims to manage overlap with main speakers and maintain time coherence within the system.

TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE BØRRESEN BM3

The Børresen BM3 draws on technologies previously used in the company’s T- and M-series loudspeakers. These include Ansuz Tesla Coil and analogue dither technologies, which are employed to reduce electrical noise within the system.

The cabinet construction focuses on mechanical stability, with the counteracting driver layout designed to minimise vibration and enclosure resonance during operation.

BØRRESEN BM3 SPECIFICATIONS AND FINISH

The Børresen BM3 has a quoted frequency response of 20Hz to 120Hz and weighs 46.4kg. Dimensions are 585mm high, 399mm wide, and 429mm deep. It is finished in high-gloss black with carbon detailing.

Connectivity is via line-level inputs, with volume adjustable in 0.5dB steps. Power consumption is rated at under 1W in standby and under 30W at idle.

BØRRESEN BM3 PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The Børresen BM3 Bass Module 3 has an MSRP of €18,000, with final pricing varying by market.
