Marantz Launches MCR 60n Compact All In One HiFi System
The new Marantz MCR 60n puts CD playback, music streaming, television sound, turntable connectivity and amplification into one compact box. Add a pair of passive speakers, and it can form the centre of a complete HiFi system.

One Box For Music And Television
Marantz has announced the MCR 60n, a compact music system designed for people who want several ways to listen without filling a room with separate components. It contains the source equipment and amplifier, but it does not include speakers.
The unit measures 280 x 303 x 111mm and weighs 4.2kg. A front-loading CD player handles standard audio CDs as well as recordable discs containing MP3 or WMA files. The European MCR 60n DAB version also includes DAB, DAB+ and FM radio.
CD, Streaming And Vinyl
HEOS provides network music streaming and multiroom playback. Supported services include Spotify Connect and TIDAL, while Apple AirPlay 2, internet radio and Bluetooth give newcomers several straightforward ways to send music from a phone, tablet or computer.
High-resolution files can be played from network sources or USB storage. The system supports PCM audio up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD up to 11.2MHz. These figures describe the highest-resolution digital files the player can accept; they do not mean every recording will use that resolution.
A moving magnet phono input allows a compatible turntable to be connected without buying a separate phono stage. The system also has analogue and optical inputs for other sources.
Built In Amplification And HDMI eARC
The MCR 60n delivers a claimed 65 watts per channel into 4-ohm speakers in stereo. It can also power four channels at 33 watts each, and provides A and B speaker outputs. A subwoofer output is included for anyone who wants to add deeper bass later.
HDMI eARC carries sound from a compatible television through a single HDMI cable. It can also allow the television remote to control the system volume, making the MCR 60n a possible alternative to a soundbar for listeners who prefer conventional stereo speakers.
Price And Availability
The MCR 60n will be available through authorised Marantz retailers later this month. The standard model costs $1,000 in the United States, while the MCR 60n DAB is priced at £800, €900 and AU$1,700.
Black and Champagne Gold finishes are offered. Optional Dirac Live room correction can be added separately; this uses measurements from a microphone to adjust the sound for the room.
