HiFi PiG’S LIN, STU, OSCAR AND KELLY COVER THIS HUGE AREA OF HIGH END MUNICH 2025 BETWEEN THEM

High End Munich 2025 Report Part 2 – Atrium 4.1

One of the biggest areas of the High End Munich 2025 show is Atrium 4.1, this first-floor area has both large rooms opening onto the Atrium area, plus lots more in the corridors behind…with all this to go at Lin, Stu, Oscar and Kelly worked their way around the smorgasbord of HiFi brands, bringing their latest wares to the show.

Top floor of Atrium 4 all done, which you can read about here, we headed down the steps (I’ll not miss those next year at Vienna) and thought we’d start off with our friends from Portugal, Innuos.

INNUOS

Innuos unveiled its new flagship music server and streamer, the Nazaré. The launch marked the first public showing of the device following a private preview at the company’s headquarters in Faro, Portugal.

The Innuos Nazaré is the company’s most advanced product to date and is named after the Portuguese deep-sea canyon known for producing giant waves — a nod to the model’s ambitions for performance and of course the brand’s Portuguese heritage. The design of the case and the light evoke the lighthouse which stands guard from the cliffs overlooking the spot where only the bravest surfers take on legendary huge waves, the product could not be more of a homage to its homeland of Portugal if it tried.

It introduces significant hardware changes compared to previous models, including:

  • Processing: A custom-built PreciseAudio mainboard with 10-core CPU, independent USB and network cards (PreciseUSB and PreciseNET), and up to 16TB SSD storage.
  • Power Supply: Incorporates a new architecture featuring custom Lundahl inductors, GaN-based rectification, and over 750,000μF of capacitance for clean power delivery.
  • Output (Nazaré Flow): A dedicated output stage with USB reclocking and support for proprietary DAC interfaces like MSB ProISL.
  • Networking (Nazaré Net): An audiophile-grade network switch with RJ45 and SFP+ options, featuring isolated power rails.
  • Chassis: Built with vibration control features (SmartStack), aluminium construction, IsoAcoustics feet, and a durable ceramic finish.

The Nazaré system can be used as a standalone streamer or expanded into a three-box setup with the Nazaré Flow and Nazaré Net. The Nazaré Flow has dedicated boards to dedicated DACs. Here we got the dedicated fibre module to go into the MSB DAC.

In parallel, Innuos also launched Sense 3.3, the latest version of its control software, which now includes Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect integration, new SmartQ feature for automated playlist continuation and presets widget for easier navigation.

During the show, Innuos demonstrated the Nazaré system in a high-end setup featuring a MSB Cascade DAC and Gryphon amplification driving Marten Coltrane Quintet speakers. Attendees were invited to compare the Nazaré directly with the outgoing flagship, Statement Next-Gen, and the ZENith Next-Gen models via A/B demonstrations.

First up we got the Nazaré playing some jazz and then it was switched to the STATEMENT player. Difficult to really assess in a standing room only space but to my ears the Nazaré seemed to have a little more body to it with faster tops. The two are certainly different, perhaps a little more live and “in the room” real with Nazaré…and the STATEMENT is certainly no slouch.

Quite an incredible sounding system really.

TIDAL

These are absolutely beautifully finished loudspeakers that were being powered by a single box of electronics. It all sounded very, very good! Playing was the Tidal AP Hybrid Powered Loudspeakers with Tidal Contros Level Controlled Streamer DAC.

On display to the side were the Tidal Bugatti Royale Hybrid Powered Loudspeakers with MC1 Level Controlled Streamer DAC. It was all kinds of gorgeous shiny bling. Not sure of the price, but we were well into lottery winning territory, I think.

FYNE AUDIO

Scotland’s Fyne Audio used High End Munich 2025 to unveil its new F500S Series loudspeakers, a global launch following a preview at the UK’s Bristol HiFi Show earlier this year. The new range is built on the company’s best-selling F500 Series, incorporating updates to driver technology, crossover design, and cabinet construction, while keeping the same price points.

The F500S Series includes five models:

  • F5S: 5” IsoFlare bookshelf
  • F500S: 6” IsoFlare standmount
  • F501S: 2x 6” IsoFlare floorstanding
  • F502S: 2x 8” IsoFlare floorstanding
  • F500S LCR: 2x 6” IsoFlare with Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR), designed for use as LCR, vertical, horizontal, or wall-mounted speakers

All models featured the latest iteration of Fyne’s proprietary IsoFlare point source driver, which combined the tweeter and mid/bass driver into a single unit to ensure consistent directivity and improved stereo imaging. The updated waveguide design offers wider dispersion and reduced internal reflections compared to the earlier generation. The tweeter uses a magnesium dome (25mm, or 19mm in the F5S) with a neodymium magnet and vented rear chamber. The bass and midrange cones are multifibre paper with FyneFlute™ surrounds, designed to control bass response and minimise resonance.

Fyne continues to use its BassTrax Tractrix Diffuser System in the floorstanding and standmount models, helping to evenly disperse bass energy into the room and reduce placement issues. The F500S LCR replaces the BassTrax system with a motor-damped ABR and comes with wall brackets. The cabinets are constructed from high-rigidity MDF and finished in Black Oak veneer, Walnut veneer, or Piano Gloss Black. Floorstanding models featured stabilising plinths, bi-wire terminals, and magnetic grilles.

Pricing remained as follows:

  • F5S: £599.99 / $799.99 / €699.66
  • F500S: £799.99 / $999.99 / €949.99
  • F501S: £1699.99 / $2249.99 / €1999.99
  • F502S: £2299.99 / $2999.99 / €2799.99
  • F500S LCR: £499.99 / $649.99 / €599.99

We had a listen to some Bryan Ferry on  the F502S and as usual with Fyne it’s a relaxed and easy going sound. It has loads of detail and a nice but not overblown bass. Great sounding room

The STrax super tweeter was a new one that they were launching. So it’s the Super Trax super tweeter in a more simple design that costs a grand a pair. This allows users to get the super tweeter upgrade on Fyne’s more affordable range of speakers, which makes a lot of sense to me. It will be available around August of this year.

GOBEL

We’d already heard the big Gobel speakers with some Vitus electronics and so it was nice to hear a smaller pair of the brand4s speakers using Riviera Labs and WADAX electronics. Also in the room was the most excellent and very interesting Kronos turntable system made by Louis Desjardins. Good sounding room playing some jazz.

VTL

A very nicely put together room that had a cool vibe about it this Sunday morning whilst playing some jazz. There was a very natural sound with the big Wilsons in this system that just sounded right. I could definitely live with this was the main thought that crossed my mind whilst say listening. Lin got them to play Giorgio by Daft Punk which was absolutely fantastic (that champagne cork pop was very clear) and certainly blew away the alcohol cobwebs.

NORDOST

Nordost are obviously about the cables and accessories but they certainly didn’t skimp on the rest of the system in this room with Wilson speakers and D’Agostino amplification.

KLAUDIO, LANSCHE AUDIO & SALTMANIS LAB

LOOK at that KLAudio turntable! Just look at it! And of course the new Reed optical cart and phonostage. This was a very cool sounding room and given the lack of noise, you’d be hard pressed to know this was all being done on vinyl! Those that are in the know will know that Lansche Audio speakers use a plasma tweeter – look it up, it’s very interesting. Lovely!

YPSILON

Ypsilon High End marked their 30th anniversary with a special version of their PST 100 MK2 SE ANNIVERSARY preamplifier, shown in Room E110, Atrium 4.1. The system also featured a high-power version of the Aelius 2 SE amplifiers and a prototype Single Ended triode amplifier using GM70 and 2A3 direct heated triodes, configured for bi-amping.

Analogue playback came from the Ypsilon VPS-100 MK2 phono stage with MC10L SUT, alongside the TechDAS Air Force One Premium turntable. Digital sources included the Ypsilon CD-1000 CD player and DAC-1000 SE.

Speakers were the Kaiser Kawero Minal, with room acoustics by Kaiser Acoustics, racks from Artesania, power distributors from Vibex, and cabling from Ypsilon’s own range.

My first reaction walking into this room was “WOW!” – well, there may have been an expletive added.

WOD

Ypsilon amplification and CD, Weiss Helios DAC, Kubala Sosna reference cables, Bergmann turntable and Miyajima cartridge…very nice indeed.

SOULUTION

Soulution unveiled its new 787 reference turntable at High End Munich 2025. The 787 features a linear tracking design with a moving platter and a minimal-excursion pivoted tonearm. Very, very cool indeed!

The 8-inch pivoted tonearm is mounted on an isolated, resonance-controlled sub-chassis and is compatible with high-compliance cartridges. To maintain linear tracking, the platter moves laterally beneath the stationary tonearm, ensuring a maximum tracking error of less than 0.15°. This architecture aims to eliminate the friction and unbalanced forces typically found in conventional linear tracking systems, while also avoiding the skating forces and alignment issues associated with traditional pivoted arms. Soulution tell us that the 787 turntable combines the advantages of pivoted tonearms with the precision of linear tracking. Certainly a unique solution for audiophiles seeking uncompromising performance.

FONO ACOUSTICA

One of the most stylish rooms at the show… Fono Acoustica cables with Avalos loudspeakers and Goldmund electronics.

GAUDER AKUSTIK & OCTAVE

Had a look around the showroom but were told to come back at noon for the listening room, which was just not practical. The same happened last year, if I recall correctly.

WIENER LAUTSPRECHER MANUFAKTUR

Certainly an impressive set of speakers!

MBL

PREMIUM AUDIO

This roomm featured the Klipsch Ojas, a collaboration with Devon Turnbull. Plus the new Klipsch La Scala AL6, Onkyo Icon Series Amplifiers and HECO Direkt Premium.

ADVANCE PARIS

WBT

All the connectors (and energy drinks) you can eat!

YAMAHA

AVANTGARDE ACOUSTIC

Avantgarde have been a favourite brand of mine for longer than I care to remember. This year we got to listen to the G3s and as always they were wonderful. Take a look at that dog!

EVERSOLO

The fab Eversolo electronics with the equally fab Epos ES-28N floorstanders, excellent system!

AUDIOQUEST

This looked like a great dem, despite me not really understanding a word of it. The German audience were clearly very impressed. Sounded great and the differences in the cables were obvious. The system used was a ‘Sounds Clever’ show system so it has to cost around 5,000€ for the whole system, perfect affordable audiophilia, which is a really fab concept that the High End Society introduced a few years ago and something that we at HiFi PiG has participated in too.

The system in the Audioquest dem room was:

Heed Audio Elixir Amp 1500€, Acoustic Energy AE 509 Loudspeakers, 2500€, Wiim Ultra streamer, 399€ and AudioQuest Rocket33 speaker cable, 629€… totaling 5029€.

The other part of the large exhibition area had lots of the AudioQuest range on display, with plenty of the team on hand to advise the many punters who were checking out all the gear on offer.

And now we hand over to Oscar and Kelly for the other side of the huge Atrium 4.1 floor of the show…

SV AUDIO / ZENSATI / VITUS AUDIO

SV Audio Menja – prototype speakers, possibly the best sound of the show for me – huge scale, the bass is exquisite; digging deep, yet always controlled and even at loud volumes there is no fatigue due to the lack of distortion. Beautifully detailed, open, spacious, still it’s the bass presentation that surprises you – it just comes out of nowhere when required and hits with impressive impact. The ‘Danish Audio Excellence’ room with Vitus Audio electronics and Zensati cables was completely epic, three brands working in total harmony.

GERSHMAN

Cardas cables, Gershman Black Swan 30th Anniversary speakers, TLA TSI-300 amp, Pink Faun Scion, MSB Cascade Stack – soft and sweet sounds coming from this room.

ACORA / AUDIO RESEARCH

Acora MRC-2 speakers with their signature stone finish, and a host of new Audio Research kit including the LS-2 tube pre-amp, LS-3 solid state pre-amp and S-100 solid state amplifier, using the Wadax Studio Player.

MAGICO

Worldwide debut of the new S2 from Magico, with a system comprising of the Wadax studio player, CD transport, Studio PSU and Studio Clock, Telos power conditioning, Pilium Achilles Divine amp and VYDA cabling – these speakers sound a lot bigger than they look.

PATHOS / FONICA / DS AUDIO / LYBRACOUSTICS / FABERS CABLES

In here you had the new Pathos Inpol Legacy amplifier and Opal DAC, Fonica isodynamic speakers, Vertere MG-1 MKII turntable with DS Audio W3 optical cartridge, and DS Audio phono stage. The Inpol Legacy amplifier really is a luxurious amp and it was driving the Fonica’s with ease and great realism.

GOLDMUND

Rhea speakers – these sound very good, for a speaker that aims to be quite attractive they do not fall down on the sound front, with a detailed and controlled sound that has good depth to it too.

CH PRECISION

In the CH Precision room we had the D10 CS/SACD transport, C10 stereo DAC with streaming, C10 Conductor digital processor, T10 10MHz Reference clock with GPS option, L10 Stereo pre-amp, P10 stereo phono stage and M10 mono power amplifiers. They played Beyonce – AMERICA HAS GOT A PROBLEM – on this setup and it sounded bloody brilliant, punchy, deep, and fun – the speakers being used were AudioVector R10. For the analogue source they had a TechDAC Airforce IV turntable, Airforce 10 tonearm and TDC01 cartridge, cabling was CH Precision by Argento and power and grounding came from Shunyata including the Everest 8000 x 2, Sigma X power cables, Altaira signal hub and chassis hubs and Omega X grounding cables.

They also had their new Wattson Madison amp and Madison streamer as well as the Emerson network bridge.

MARTEN

So Marten were showing off their massive Coltrane Supreme Extreme speakers, these were however only on static display.

The speakers playing in this room were the slightly smaller Coltrane Quintet Extreme, a new release from Marten. I have always found Marten speakers to sound fantastic and these are no different, excellent timing and impeccable detail. They were using Audia Flight Strumento No8 Signature mono amplifiers and No1 Signature pre-amp, Jorma Paragon cabling and reference power filter, TechDAS Airforce III turntable with Airforce 10 tonearm, DS Audio Grand Master Extreme cartridge, DS Audio TB100 valve phono stage, MSB Cascade DAC, Antipodes Oladra media player and Innuos PhoenixNET network switch.

JORMA

Jorma had a display of their cables in this room, including the brand new Paragon series. They also had a small demo setup using Marten Parker Quintet Diamond Edition speakers, Engstrom ARNE integrated amplifier, MSB Discrete DAC, Antipodes KALA 50 server/streamer and Jorma cabling of course.

LINN

The Linn room sounded really good, they were using Transparent Reference cabling, Linn 360 Passive with Aktiv bass speakers, brand new Klimax Solo 500 mono amplifiers, Klimax DSM streaming pre-amp and LP12 with Bedrok plinth.

This system delivered a truly engaging, punchy, and highly enjoyable listening experience.

MARTEN / AUDIA FLIGHT / SIGNAL PROJECTS

More Marten speakers, this time the Mingus Septet Statement Edition running off Audia Flight Strumento No8 Signature mono amplifiers and No1 Signature pre-amp, Signal projects Filtron CX mains conditioner, Audia Flight FLS20 SACD player/streamer and Signal projects Poseidon S30 integrated power unit.

TOTALDAC

A full ‘nose to tail’ Totaldac system, shows just what a brand can do when they take care of everything in the chain. totaldac D110 speakers, AMP-1 Sublime mono blocks, Amp-1 Generator, d1-stream, d1-switch, d1-AES-live, d1-total DAC, new d1-CD transport and totaldac cabling – fantastic sounding system, snappy, deep, accurate and with great sound staging. A brand we have seen grow over the years that have really hit their stride in the High End market.

AUDIO PHYSIC / B.AUDIO

Audio Physic – new Cardeas speakers with new driver generation, the cone is made from Carbon fibres and polypropylene heated and pressed. B.audio have a new phono stage for Alpha or B.DPR EX, it includes MM and MC input with load adjustment and gain adjustment, Qobuz connect is also now supported on B.audio products.

These speakers sound excellent, very natural and rounded without harshness or nasty peaks. They were being driven by a pair of B.audio B.amp mono power amps and B.dpr EX streaming DAC+Pre-amp. Annette Askvik decided to visit this room when we were in here, and her music sounded beautiful through the new Cardeas speakers.

They also had a smaller system that they were switching between during the show, this consisted of the B.audio Alpha One streaming integrated amplifier, Audio Physic Spark speakers and Clearaudio Ovation turntable.

MOFI

MoFi had a few products around the room on display, as well as some products from Aesthetix to one side. The main system though had the MoFi SourcePoint 888 speakers on demo running off an Aesthetix Pallene pre-amp and Dione power amp, MoFi MasterPhono phono-stage, Origin Live Voyager turntable with DS Audio Grand Master Extreme cartridge and DS Audio TB100 valve phono stage. The MoFi speakers have a real groove to them, and are really fun to listen to.

GRADO/ DS / PATHOS / EXPOSURE

In here you had some demo systems with Pathos amps running various Grado headphones, Hana cartridges, Exposure electronics components, Origin Live turntables and DS Audio cartridges.

AMG / AS

AMG have a new phono stage, the Ventus, with two gain stages, a dual mono design and fully discrete componentry. They were running this new phono stage into a Vitus Audio RI-100 integrated amp powering a pair of SoundSpace Systems Robin speakers. A very natural and effortless sound was coming from this system and AMG had plenty of their turntables and tonearms on display around the room.

There was a second demo setup too which used the SoundSpace Systems Aidoni speakers, Vitus Audio SL-103 pre-amp and SM-011 power amps, EVOcator phono stage, A*STELLAR turntable with AXIOM Titan tonearm and Palladian XO Boron cartridge.

Lyravox had a couple of speakers on static display in this room too.

SILTECH / CRYSTAL CABLE / HMS / SPHINX

Loads of cables on display in here, from Crystal Cable, HMS and Siltech. The main thing in here though was the launch of the Sphinx Element 3 speakers, source wise they had an SME Model60 turntable, Grimm MU2 server/streamer and amplification was from Siltech (they were using the SAGA System which has the C1, V1 and P1), the cabling was from Siltech too.

The Sphinx Element 3 loudspeaker draws on a wealth of experience from its sister brands, particularly Siltech’s Symphony and Crystal Cable’s Minissimo Forte models. Designed with an emphasis on precision and clarity, the Element 3 incorporates proprietary ‘Zero Gravity™ Bass’ technology, aimed at reducing cabinet-induced compression for cleaner, deeper bass and improved transient response.

The Sphinx Element 3 loudspeaker is the first in a planned series. A larger model is already in development, promising the same sonic character with greater scale. This future expansion reflects Sphinx’s intention to become a full ecosystem of high-end audio products—spanning speakers and electronics—all sharing the engineering heritage of its parent brands.

ARIES CERAT

Aries Cerat had a couple of systems on show at this year’s Munich High End; one was humungous and represented the upper end of what they do, whilst the second system was somewhat more affordable, though still nothing like beer money audio.

The smaller system heralded the debut of the brand’s smallest amplifier, the Quindecim, which puts out just 15 watts and uses affordable tubes, but still has that distinctive Aries Cerat look to it. As well as the amp this smaller system used Aries Cerat Aurora speakers, Incito S and Helene DAC. The Aurora speakers were launched a few years ago, and I remember thinking that they were absolutely bonkers, but they do work and they do sound fantastic.

The bigger system was fronted by the humongous Pallas loudspeakers that has 8 active bass speakers in an open baffle arrangement and then the horns that you see up front. They are finished in what from afar looks like a textured pearlescent finish, but when you go and stroke the speakers (it was hard not to), they are absolutely smooth. We have a video with Stavros, the owner of Aries Cerat coming very soon so do keep your eyes out for that as he goes into loads of detail about the bigger system.

I neither have the money nor the home to house and Aries Cerat system, but if I did, I would. Just for the sheer wonderful bonkersness of it all!

Sonically, the big system sounded absolutely at ease with power in reserve for even the most demanding of tracks. I’d love to hear this system cranked up and playing some techno! Bet it would sound incredible!

Around the Ares Cerat room were quite a few models on static display including the Ianus Geminae, Ianus Essentia, Ianus Protos and much more. In the main system you had the Aether pre-amp, ithaka minor DAC and Pallas speakers driven by Odysseas power amps. They also had a new turntable on display along with their Hermes phono stage.

Munich was also the debut for their smallest amplifier, the Quindecim, 15w of pure bliss. Accompanied by Aurora speakers, Incito S and Helene dac.

These setups are absolutely bonkers yet, they sound so good. There is a level of impressive craftsmanship and mad conception that work well together.

There was RDacoustic treatment around the room.

SONORO

Sonoro are known for making a range of all-in-one streaming speakers that are very much a lifestyle product. Here though they had a few new products including a streaming amplifier, the Maestro Quantum and Orchestra Gen.2 speakers. They also had a few turntables, and offer a full setup for a very reasonable cost – the demo setup sounded quite engaging too and put out some impressive punch for its relatively small size.

MCINTOSH / SONUS FABER

Plenty of lovely eye candy in this room, not much on demo though.

STEINWAY LYNGDORF

New TDAI 2210 streaming amplifier with RoomPerfect built in and a touchscreen. In the demo setup they had a full 7.2.4 dolby atmos music system which was very immersive and a great way of showing off how all the Lyngdorf kit works well together (multi-channel processor + amps + speakers).

FISCHER & FISCHER

Fischer & Fischer are a German company making speakers out of natural slate, these are something a little different. They had cables from MudrAkustik in the room, amplification from Octave, a Trans Rotor Jr turntable, and Chord Electronics Hugo II DAC too.

ELAC

Elac cover a wide range of speakers, from budget to premium models, HiFi to home-cinema. In their display room they had a wide range of their products including bookshelf speakers, active subs and premium HiFi speakers.

In their demo room they had their Concentro M 807 speakers paired with T+A M 200 mono blocks, MP200 source and DAC 200, cabling was from AudioQuest.

NUBERT

This room was rammed; I can only assume it is due to them doing a presentation on their new nuVero series – with 7 models in the range there is something for everyone (even those looking for a multi-channel setup).  They also had new electronics, including the nuControl X network streaming DAC and nuPowerA power amplifier.

JBL / MARK LEVINSON

Harman had a few new products to talk about at the show, a new Mark Levinson 600 series including the 632 stereo amplifier, 631 mono amplifier and 626 dual-mono pre-amp. They were using a 519 audio player running into the new 626 and 632 powering a pair of the new JBL Summit Makalu speakers – impressive sound coming from this setup.

They had plenty of other JBL pieces on display around the room, Arcam too, which was being used in the second demo setup. This consisted of the JBL Summit Ama standmount speakers and an Arcam SA45 streaming amplifier.

The trio of JBL Summit speakers (Ama, Pumori and Makalu) are interesting products, JBL once again entering the more premium market whilst offering something a little different and most importantly, that sound great.

GRYPHON

Gryphon showcased the Antileon Revelation Mono amplifiers in a complete system at Atrium 4.1, Room E120. The system included the Ethos CD/DAC, Commander preamplifier, EOS 5 loudspeakers, PowerZone 3.20 power unit, StandArt equipment racks, and Vanta cables. Gryphon’s full team was available to speak with visitors about the new model, as well as upcoming brand developments and distribution plans.

the Antileon Revelation, the fifth-generation model in their long-running power amplifier line. This release coincides with two anniversaries for the Danish brand: 30 years of the Antileon range and Gryphon’s 40th year of operation. It’s a true dual-mono, pure class-A design outputting 165 watts per channel in stereo or 180 watts per channel in mono mode.

FINK TEAM / EPOS / CANOR

It’s always a pleasure to see Karl-Heinz at shows, FinkTeam said goodbye to the Munich show being held at the MOC with a special edition of their KIM speakers. This edition features a substantial solid wood front baffle and a cabinet finished in specially selected colours that complement the exquisite woodwork. Karl-Heinz Fink has also introduced a new tweeter for enhanced sound quality, while the crossover includes their renowned auto transformer and carefully chosen components for a beautifully balanced sound.

Canor were celebrating 30 years too, so there was plenty of Canor in the room too. The main system used a Matrix Audio NT-1 network transport, Canor Gaia C2 DAC, Canor Asterion V2 phono pre-amp, Canor TP101 30th anniversary integrated amp and ToneArt Revelation II turntable.

What a send-off, the KIM really have a way of bringing you closer to the music, in a purely emotional way.
