Wilson Audio Autobiography Loudspeaker
WILSON AUDIO AUTOBIOGRAPHY FLAGSHIP LOUDSPEAKER UNVEILED
American HiFi brand Wilson has introduced the Wilson Audio Autobiography, a new flagship loudspeaker that reflects the company’s long-standing design and engineering approach.
The Wilson Audio Autobiography draws on over five decades of development, incorporating new technologies and materials while building on earlier designs such as the WAMM and Chronosonic series.

WILSON AUDIO AUTOBIOGRAPHY DRIVER ARCHITECTURE
The Wilson Audio Autobiography is a five-way loudspeaker configured in an M(MTM)M array, with a completely new set of drive units developed specifically for this system. The layout includes dual 7-inch midrange drivers positioned above and below a central MTM array, which itself features two 2-inch midrange drivers flanking a front-firing tweeter. Low frequencies are handled by a combination of 12-inch and 15-inch woofers, while a rear-firing tweeter is included to enhance spatial presentation.
The company states that all drivers have been designed as part of an integrated system rather than as standalone components, with a focus on coherence across the frequency range.

NEW TWEETER AND MIDRANGE DESIGN IN WILSON AUDIO AUTOBIOGRAPHY
The front-firing tweeter uses Wilson Audio’s Convergent Synergy Laser Sintered (CSLS) technology, with a revised rear wave chamber intended to reduce internal reflections and improve energy dissipation. The 2-inch midrange drivers are designed to bridge the transition between high and mid frequencies, while the 7-inch PentaMag midrange units employ a five-magnet AlNiCo structure derived from earlier designs.
A rear-firing tweeter operates between 6 kHz and 22 kHz and includes adjustable attenuation, allowing users to tailor output to room acoustics.

WILSON AUDIO AUTOBIOGRAPHY LOW FREQUENCY SYSTEM
The low-frequency section combines two differently sized woofers engineered to operate together within a redesigned enclosure. Wilson Audio states that this approach addresses challenges related to timing and integration when using dissimilar drivers. The system is designed to provide controlled low-frequency output while maintaining consistency with the midrange.
Adjustable porting allows users to configure the speaker for forward- or rear-firing operation, with measurable changes in output across specific bass frequency bands depending on the chosen setup.
MECHANICAL DESIGN AND ALIGNMENT
The Wilson Audio Autobiography features a new mechanical alignment system that enables precise adjustment of individual driver modules. This includes adjustable sled mechanisms, calibrated indicators, and tool-free controls for setup. The company claims this system allows for highly accurate time alignment between drivers.
Additional hardware elements include custom binding posts, integrated cable management, and accessible resistor mounts. The speaker also incorporates Wilson Audio’s Acoustic Diodes for vibration control at the floor interface.

MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION
A range of materials is used throughout the construction of the loudspeaker, including high-density phenolic composites, carbon fibre, aluminium, stainless steel, and copper. These materials are applied in different parts of the enclosure and structure based on their mechanical and acoustic properties.
The woofer enclosure retains full material thickness behind the drivers, while the crossover housing is constructed from carbon fibre and mounted to a vibration-damping structure. Various layers of constrained materials are used to manage resonance and structural integrity.
At its maximum height, the speaker measures approximately 83.5 inches.

CROSSOVER DESIGN IN WILSON AUDIO AUTOBIOGRAPHY
The crossover network in the Wilson Audio Autobiography is built using a point-to-point wiring approach rather than printed circuit boards. Capacitors are manufactured in-house and finished to tight tolerances, with additional copper variants used in specific sections.
The crossover is designed to maintain signal integrity across all frequency ranges, with particular attention to integration between bass and midrange.
