AUDIO VIDEO SHOW WARSAW 2026 REPORT PART THREE – RADISSON BLU SOBIESKI HOTEL

Starting from the top on floor 7, Oscar and Kelly discover all the audio delights in the Sobieski.

FLOOR 7

SZEMIS AUDIO KONSULTANT

Sugden pre-power combo in this room, with the DAP-800 pre-amp, and FBA-800 power amp, and Type-A speakers by Szemis. Playing quite calm music as the show started, it was a relaxing and easy listen in this room.

EPO SOUND, JACK IN BLACK, MUARAH AUDIO

Jack In Black is a brand debut at this show, they make an audio matrix designed for switching between two sources, three amps, and three pairs of speakers. They were demoing it with Muarah amplifiers, phono stage, and turntable, with Eposound speakers – both in floorstand and standmount form. Smooth, yet controlled sound in this room, and I quite like the genuine texture of the wood of the speakers. They are made with genuine charred wood, and it’s something quite unique.

MORE AUDIO

MORE audio C200 integrated amp, MORE audio mains conditioner, paired with Owl speakers, Eversolo streaming transport and Denafrips DAC. Natural and effortless sound in here, easy going yet plenty of detail too.

REED, RADA, AIDAS

In here you had the Silent Pound Bloom speakers, paired with a Reed turntable, Reed cartridge, and Rada electronics. Superb sound from these speakers, they were playing the album Resonance by Boris Blank, and these speakers dig impressively deep whilst maintaining composure at all times. The soundstaging is huge, and they paired brilliantly with the Rada amps.

EIZZ, KAISER, QUIESCENT, MASTER FIDELITY

Eizz turntable, phono stage, and pre-amp, with Kaiser Acoustics Kawero Classic speakers, Quiescent T100 power amps, Master Fidelity NADAC S, and NADAC D. Great dynamics and detail with body aplenty – the speakers go deep and remain articulate throughout.

PELNE BRZMIENIE

You had a pair of Art Audio Emotion Carbon 8 speakers, Art Audio Vinyl 1 reference, Art Audio Conductor, Homogenix EMI, Systemdek Revolution turntable, Audioplan power supply, and Ultimate Audio silver interconnects. They were playing Rodrigo y Gabriella at first, then changed to Diana Krall, these speakers can handle all this music with ease.

FRONTIERS / PATHOS

Frontiers Maestoso speakers were playing in here, running of Pathos Inpol Diamond mono amps, Pathos Synapse pre-amp, Pathos Opal DAC, and Eversolo streaming transport. A big system, playing quite tame music, that didn’t give them much of a workout. Still, there was good space, separation, and depth from what I heard.

RELCO

Big new Relco speakers in this room, running off Marantz MA-9S2 mono amps, Eversolo DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 streamer with DAC and CD player. The speakers were the Mantide model, and once again there was some quite tame music playing. Still, they gave a sense of scale and depth that was quite impressive.

FLOOR 6

HOLBORNE AUDIO / NO-LIMIT AUDIO

This room had No-Limit Audio speakers playing, paired with a YBA CD200 CD player, and Holborne integrated amplifier. Very open and natural sound in this room, with interesting 2-piece speakers. The bass extends cleanly, with enough heft and weight to not sound thin.

ATELIER / KIMBER KABLE / GRANDINOTE

Big line array speakers in this room, running out of a Grandinote streaming amplifier, they played Liberty by Anette Askvik and it gave a very real presentation with effortless weight when needed, and subtlety when not. These have an impressive amount of insight, with excellent resolving capabilities.

SISOUND / STACCATO

We heard the Sisound speakers last year, and at this show they debuted the new Solidus X2 speakers, I asked them to play something a little more upbeat and they obliged. These were running off a Staccato BU-01 amplifier, with Extraudio pre-amp, and Extraudio DAC. The new X2 have a clean midrange, with effortless detail, and when the bass kicks in they have a controlled yet deep and punchy presentation. The integration of all three drivers is seamless, and they sound controlled throughout – this was a brilliant sounding room, and Sisound have once again impressed with their speakers.

MJ AUDIO

You had Bryston Compact T10 standmount speakers in this room, running off a Bryston Bi-200 integrated amp, and Bryston BDA-3 DAC, with Vicoustic acoustic panels around the room. They were playing a bit of Plini in here, which was refreshing, great demo music with heavier guitar with lots of lower bass too. These standmounts manage to kick out quite a lot of low end, pressurising the room without sounding bloated or too full. They remained clean and clear with a good sense of depth and width – it may have been the music choice, but I did enjoy this room.

AUDIES KULTURA

Audies Prelude integrated amplifier was playing in this room, with a pair of Kultura Jazz2 speakers, running off a Muarah turntable, with Tellurium Q cabling. Smooth sounds in the room, big vintage stye speakers paired with a valve amp, playing some bluesy music is always going to sound quite relaxed.

HOLBORNE / NO-LIMIT AUDIO

Another room with Holborne and No-Limit Audio, this time with the new Holborne Suite Pre-amp and Suite Stereo power amp, Leema acoustics Sirius CD player/DAC server, and Holborne TT, running through No-Limit Audio Reference One speakers. They played Wish You Were Here and it sounded stunning – the guitars hang in the air, and there is great separation throughout. These are revealing speakers, and have no issues delivery what is in the recording.

PROJEKT AUDIO

In here you had more Sisound speakers, the Solidus M, paired with a Bonawatt Triton amplifier, and Luxmann CD player. Once again, the Sisound speakers throwing out a big, bold sound, that has great imaging, timing, and depth. They also had a Bona Watt CD transport, and Rega Planar 8 in this room, on display.

Warsaw-AV-Show-2026-Sobieski-Oscar- (214) > (230)

 AUDIO NOTE UK

This room was packed, they were using their AN-E speakers with a TT2 turntable, IQ cartridge, CDT-One II, DAC 3.1X Balanced II, Vindicator amp, and M3 pre-amp. You can pretty much guarantee an Audio Note UK room will sound great at a show, and this was no exception. Brilliant sounding system, with effortless depth, clarity, and energy. This was an engaging system to listen to, they were playing Kraftwerk, and it worked so well in here.

FLOOR 5

INTRADA

This room had a pair of Intrada Claude speakers, a full Nagra setup including the Compact Phono, Amp II-S, Preamp II-S, Classic PSU, alongside a B.audio B.dac EX, and Zafino turntable. They were playing Ever Know by HAEVN, with deep controlled bass, articulate midrange and expressive treble that was both detailed, yet smooth. These speakers do soundstaging very well, with the treble having good height, and everything was well separated within the mix.

AUDIOFORTE

Atohm GT2 speakers were paired with Atoll PH200 phono stage, ST300 Signature streamer, CD400 Evolution, and IN800 Evolution integrated amplifier. They were using an Acoustic Solid 311 turntable with Nagaoka MP500 cartridge, playing some rather “interesting” jazz music.

AUDIOTHLON

In here we had a pair of Equilibrium speakers, running off an Esoteric front end that included the N-05XE, K-05XD, and G-05 master clock, with a Pure Sound Versonus power amplifier (50w in Class-A, 125w in Class-AB). This is one hefty dual mono power amp, and had excellent grip over the speakers, delivering deep, controlled low end, natural vocals and detailed treble. They were also using an Enerr Mephista mains conditioner in this system.

GEMSTONE

Interesting looking standmount speakers in here, the Gemstone L1, they were playing Africa by Toto and it was quite fun, these speakers were paired with a Naim Supernait 3 amp, and La Voce Aqua DAC. They have quite a snappy and dynamic presentation, with good articulation and groove. They did put on Back in Black by AC/DC and that was a bit more up my street, the do punchy rock with good energy and clarity.

HOMOGENIX

Homogenix make a range of cartridges, so the rest of the system in this room was covered up, with a focus on their cartridges of course. Whatever the system was, it sounded good, with depth and clarity.

ARETAI / HART LABS

Aretai had their big Contra 350F speakers in this room, running off a hARt labs Reference pre/power combo, Reed Muse 1c turntable and Reed phono stage. They were playing electronic music in here, at quite some volume, and it was pressurising the room without sounding overwhelming. These speakers go deep, really deep, yet never lose focus of the details or vocals. Impressive depth, physicality, and also detail, through this system.

In their second room they had the smaller Contra 100S standmount speakers, with a hARt lab Tune Six Reference all-in-one integrated streaming amplifier. I’m always impressed at how big these smaller speakers sound, they can go low for such a small speaker, yet deliver that imaging that standmounts excel at.

ARYA AUDIO / BARE BAFFLE

A dark room, with Schetl speakers, running off a CS Port 300B PA SET amp, CS Port C3PR pre-amp, and a Wadax Studio Player as the source. Quite impressive sound in here, with hard hitting, and deep reaching low end, along with good control and clarity, especially from a valve amp.

AUER ACOUSTICS / BARE BAFFLE

Auer Versura V2 speakers were playing in here, paired with a KR Kronzilla SXI amplifier, CS Port C3PR pre-amp, LTA Aero R2R tube DAC, CelAudio NS6U, NR6, and NWX. Some massive valves in the amp in this room, and this system worked well with the gorgeous purple Versura V2 speakers. This was a smooth, yet detailed sounding system that did the fundamentals very well indeed.

FLOOR 4

VIRTUAL HIFI

Virtual HiFi had a pair of their Supernova open-baffle speakers on demo, paired with LAiV mono amps, pre-amp, and T&A DAC. These were playing quite loud (too loud), and kicked out a lot of energy and sound, with excellent clarity and transient response. The bass was thunderous when called for, hitting hard and deep – however, they did need to turn this system down a bit.

LOCKWOOD

Lockwood are a British company with heritage in studio speakers, they had their Stanley 2 speakers on demo, paired with a Quad 3 integrated amp – these are brilliant speakers, they are effortless and easy to listen to, and were played at sensible volumes too. These are balanced sounding speakers, that make music sound real – always a fantastic room.

FORUM DIY AUDIO

The show always has a room or two dedicated to a DIY Audio forum in Poland, and they show off some kit just built by enthusiasts. They were playing Still D.R.E by Dr. Dre and it was brilliant, with punchy and engaging sound that got my head bopping along. The choice of song made this room, and I loved it. Next up was Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine, another brilliant choice of track and a real contrast compared to a lot of what we have heard at the show – this room had good energy and control.

TONEART

ToneART had a full system using their equipment, including phono stage, pre-amp, and power amps running into a pair of Wilson Sabrina X speakers. At the show they were demoing their new tuning cups, little cups that help tune the system. An interesting demo and they definitely do something in terms of resonance in the room.

SKALA AUDIO

Here you had the Skala Audio Kaliope Prime 10 speakers playing, with other models on static display, they were running out of an Elmuz 200HA4-0 valve integrated amp. These are impressive, very detailed and open, but when the bass kicks in they go deep with ease.

HIGH AUDIO / KULTURA

This was a super busy room, so I didn’t get a good chance to listen to the setup, they were using a Studer A807 reel-to-reel as the source, Tektron amplifiers, along with another setup using Jadis, and Kultura speakers.

FORUM AUDIOSTEREO

A system put together by forum members, with some interesting kit including vintage NAD and Sansui alongside some DIY kit. The Mechano 26 speakers playing here look tiny, then they put on On My Level by Wiz Khalifa (not my usual cup of tea) and looks can indeed be deceiving. These chuck out a lot of sound for their size, yet vocals and treble are extremely clear at all times without sounding harsh. Impressive sound from these standmounts.

4HIFI

In here you had a range of kit, mostly from Lab12 including the Integre4 MK2, alongside an Audio-GD CD transport, separate Audio-GD DAC, Eversolo streaming transport, Dual turntable, and Bodnaraudio Basshorn speakers. A smooth, yet clear system that didn’t need to be played loud to sound excellent.

REMTON / FONOLAB / HOLBO

Tiny little ProAc speakers playing in here, paired with Remton power amps, pre-amp, and phono stage, alongside a Holbo linear tracking turntable, they also had a new Fonolab Svper Qvattvor Quinquennial phono stage in the rack. More jazz in this room, that was sounding fine through this setup.

AUDIO ATELIER

QLM speakers in this room, paired with a Bladelius system using the X1 power amp, X2 pre-amp, and X5 power supply, alongside their Ethernet isolator. There was also a Bladelius ASK integrated in the rack, this wasn’t being used when we were in the room. There was a little too much low end in this room at times, but vocals still came across quite naturally.

AUDIO ATELIER

Interesting looking speakers in this room, the Gradient R-5, paired with Norma CD player, pre-amp, and power amp. They were playing a bit of Comfortably Numb, and it was delivered with good air and space, with plenty of depth.

AUDIO ATELIER

This system had another pair of QLM speakers in it, paired with Lumin source equipment, Plixir, and a big Bladelius Oden power amp. This was a good system, very musical, whilst keeping a tight grip over technicalities. No abundance of low end like in the other QLM room, with good transients too. They played some Richard Ashcroft and it came across with good clarity, control and energy.

AUDIO ATELIER

In here you had a WestminsterLab Omne all-in-one amplifier, with Lumin server, Plixir, and Trenner & Friedl RA v3 speakers. They were playing some classical piano music in here, and the system scaled well with what was playing.

FLOOR 3

SPINOR / TENTOGRA / IDHOS

A full complement of Idhos electronics was driving a pair of GT Audio Momento Musicale speakers, with a Tentogra turntable, a wide and smooth sounding system.

KII

Kii had their Kii Seven speakers in this room, and we got to pick a track – so we chose White Devil by President. This track has quite a rumbly, punchy beat, and the Seven’s throw it out with plenty of energy and groove. It’s an engaging track that needs a system that can deliver it in spades, and these do just that. They deliver hard hitting bass, clear vocals, crisp treble, and always with composure – never losing track of the underlying beat. Such a great room, and also a fun test track.

BONAWATT / OEPHI

A second room with Bonawatt in it, using their Triton as a pre-amplifier, and showing off their upcoming pre/power amp combo, running in to a pair of OePhi Transcendence 2.5 speakers. A snappy yet natural presentation between these components, with the Bonawatt adding a sense of natural warmth to the OePhi speakers – coming across rather musical in this room.

DELTA AUDIO

Atlantis Labs speakers in this room, paired with Tsakiridis mono amps, pre-amp, and mains conditioner, alongside a Goldnote turntable, phono stage, streamer, and PSU. More easy listening Jazz in here, which was smooth and easy-going.

GETAUDIO

In here you had a showcase of Elekit amps, they usually come in DIY form and require assembly and seem to be fairy popular. They also had a display of Lundahl transformers in here too, these are top quality and used in quite a few valve-based amps.

KAIZEN ART AUDIO

Kaizen Art Audio had their Ancient Deva speakers in here, paired with a pair of older Electrocompaniet AMPLIWIRE 180 mono amps, an EC 4.8 MKII pre-amp, and Audioaero CD player. Softer electronic music was playing, but it gave a good sense of what these speakers had to offer, which is solid yet full bass punch, and good overall balance.

SPARK AUDIO

Spark Audio had their Concept One speaker on demo, a nice little standmount speaker with ceramic coated mid-bass driver. These were paired with a SoulNote A1 integrated amp and Lumin streamer – they had quite a dynamic, yet controlled sound, that’s easy to enjoy whilst providing plenty of detail.

OWL AUDIO

Owl Audio make a range of speakers; in this room they were playing the standmounts and they are impressively dynamic and full for their size. They also excel when it comes to transients, never sounding slow or lacking in speed, even when the mix got more complex. They were running off a More Audio amp, with an Eversolo DMP-A8 MASTER Gen 2 as the source. There are quite a few smaller Polish speaker brands, making great sounding speakers, these are one of them.

BELOGUROFF

Well, we walked in and the theme to James Bond 007 came on, and I’ll admit that it’s a great tune. These big speakers handled this track with ease, the double bass was articulate, with great stereo imaging and depth to the soundstage. This was a full Beloguroff system, and was incredibly natural and open sounding.

BMN

Moon by Simaudio source kit including the 681 network player and 641 integrated amp, were paired with BMN speakers, big deep bass and good clarity, this room was packed though, so we didn’t get to sit down and have a proper listen.

HAIKU AUDIO

Small Klipsch Heresy III speakers in here, with a new Haiku integrated amp, there was also a new hybrid amp from Haiku in the rack, along with a vintage Marantz CD player, and it was sounding great. Another easy-going system that has good body, and is setup for long listening sessions without any fatigue.

CIARRY / AUDIOTITE

Some Pink Floyd playing in this room, with big Ciarry KG-5040 speakers, paired with a Bryston power amp, Bryston pre-amp, ADMD DAC, Jay’s Audio CD transport, and ZenSati cabling throughout. This was a big system, and it sounded it, with deep and full bass response, along with excellent clarity and space.

WK AUDIO

WK make a range of cables, they were playing with Gauder Akustik speakers, CEC CD player and showing off their most affordable cables, the system sounded superb.

LINEAR AUDIO RESEARCH

Next Level Tech cabling in this system, with a Lumin streaming server, Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC, Innuos network switch, and new speakers Kate from Linear Audio research, paired with their 17w valve integrated amp and phono stage. Sweet, smooth, yet detailed sound from these, with a 2-way design and down firing port.

SINUS AUDIO

Staccato standmount speakers, paired with Sinus Audio valve streamer, hybrid valve integrated amplifier (both the streamer and amp are dual mono), with a Sinus Audio power strip mains conditioner too. They also had another valve amp on the rack, along with a nice little spectrum analyser. The Staccato speakers sounded excellent in here, with a deep and controlled sound, and excellent clarity across the board.

ADMD AUDIO / AUDIOTITE

ADMD had their brand-new Reference DAC on demo, with their own speakers, Everest streaming/server, into the ADMD active speakers, ZenSati Silenzio cables, Cunae audio diffusors and isolation platforms. Incredibly natural sounding system in this room, and I know one of these reference DACs will be making its way to HiFi PiG towers for review in the near future. ADMD make some superb kit, and it comes across totally unforced, and pitch perfect, without any hint of harshness.

PERFECT AUDIO

Duevel omni directional speakers in this room, with Electric Audio pre/power amp combo, AVM mains conditioner, Mytek streamer, and Westend DAC. Very ethereal sound, that fills the room with incredibly lifelike and open sound.

MIART

MiArt make speakers, and they were demoing some standmounts with a coaxial driver and dedicated stands, these were paired with a Proceed Pre/Power combo, CD transport, and digital audio processor, with a Pioneer streamer. The energy and sound coming from these was impressive to say the least, big, deep, punchy sound that had great imaging and soundstaging. Impressively detailed, and quite well balanced across the board.

3CITY SOUND LAB

3City Sound Lab are a speaker brand, they had a new model of speakers on demo in their room, they are floor standers and have a natural and deep sound. They were using a Creek front end, comprising of a CD player and integrated amplifier. These speakers have a downward firing port and didn’t seem to interact too much with the room – they put on Wellerman by Nathan Evans, and it was impressively controlled yet expressive. Very natural sounding speakers, with good low-end extension without sounding over the top.

SOUNDEMO

SounDemo were playing the smaller of the Eltax in the room, with a Lumin streaming server, and Synthesis Soprano amp. Easy going sound in here with good depth to the soundstage and an engaging sound. They played Hail To The King by Avenged Sevenfold – a track I love, the kicks had great punch and it was an enjoyable setup.

DEARWOLF

In this room we had speakers from Linea audio, paired with Denon POA-8000 mono amps, Perfect Connection streamer, and SoulNote B3 and X3 combo. I still don’t quite know how they do it, but Linea managed to get huge sound out of narrow cabinets – the sound that you would normally require a couple of subs for. These have a way of pressurising the room without breaking a sweat, the depth of the bass is insane for such an unassuming speaker – they may look slim, but they are capable of throwing out huge sound with bags of energy too.

FLOOR 2

ANCIENT AUDIO FRAM

Ancient Audio their new Synergy speakers in this room, paired with their statement series of electronics. Very unique designs in this room, with plenty of oomph and detail across the board. The new speakers have an interesting cabinet that’s made of a sandwich of glass, aluminium, and wood – making it inert.

KASOTO / ONWATI / DESTINATION AUDIO

In this room you had the Destination Audio CM70 amplifier, Tube DAC, and WE417A phonostage, with a Lucas Audio streaming server, and OnWaTi by Kastoto speakers. An impressively natural and smooth system, bass extension that comes out when required, and a high level of detail and air without trying to bring your attention to it.

TREBLE CLEF AUDIO / VINNIE ROSSI

Treble Clef speakers in this room, paired with the new Vinnie Rossi Canta series of electronics, always quite impressive sound from these rather unusual looking speakers – the bass at the beginning of Welcome To The Machine by Pink Floyd was tickling my eardrums on this fine Saturday morning. The mids and highs still cut through with great clarity and presence, and the stereo imaging is rather good too.

AMPHION

Amphion were showing their new A15 active speakers, these active speakers don’t have any built-in streaming or other gubbins, rather they are simple active speakers made to be paired with a streaming pre-amp or DAC. The idea behind this, is that they don’t become obsolete as DAC and streaming tech changes, they are also quite small, yet managed to fill this room with ease. They have that classic Amphion sound that is clean, clear, yet with great body to back it up.

JA I TY JACEK FIDALI

Sulek speakers, Vinius electronics, vintage Marantz CD player, Topping DX5 II, and Reed turntable – playing Take Five, spacious and full with good transient response.

SOFT COLLECTIVE

We saw these speakers last year, and they are very interesting, this year they were paired with a LampizatOr DAC, LampizatOr GulfStream all valve streamer, Innuos network switch, and Zikra amps. These speakers produce a sound that simply hangs in the air, it comes from beyond the speakers in a very convincing manner, whilst sounding tonally natural and smooth.

TRUETONE

TrueToneT1 Signature active speakers in this room, this is a new brand and new product that should be available in March 2027. These feature a coaxial mid/high driver, and dual opposed woofers, with streaming and DSP built in, along with Wisa wireless link between the speakers. These dig down to 33Hz (-3dB) and come in quite a neat and compact package.

They played Queen Mary by Francine Thirteen, a common test track and these hit hard and deep with impressive control and detail. I think the coherency and depth of the soundstage are standout qualities here, alongside that deep and controlled low end.

Active speakers of this quality do make you wonder if you need separates – impressive stuff from this new company.

You can read more about TrueTone here

AST

Big Harbeth speakers in here, paired with Ypsilon Phaethon, S100, and DAC1000, with a Marantz SACD player and Torus mains conditioner. They were using AST (Advanced Silver Technology) cabling throughout. Natural, yet detailed sound in this room.

ANALOGUE ALCHEMY

Analogue Alchemy electronics, with a Garrard turntable, and DeVore Fidelity Orangutan O/96 speakers. More smooth female vocal jazz, but good sound from these speakers and electronics. With body, depth, and an easy going sound.

ATHENAMUSE

Athenamuse cables in this room, the source was an Ellasonica streaming amp, running in to Jeong Audio D6 speakers – this was their world debut. These speakers have a ceramic coated mid/bass driver and diamond tweeter, and the whole system used Athenamuse cabling throughout. I found these speakers to be exceptionally well controlled, and never harsh.

KONSBUD AUDIO / GENELEC

They were doing a talk in this room, about the history of Genelec, and had a range of their speakers on display/demo. Known for their studio monitors, they also double up as great home speakers, with a more neutral sound.

PRACOWNIA WZMACNIACZY LAMPOWYCH

Ok, there was some rather screechy harmonica music playing in here, so I couldn’t judge their sound much. Big three-way speakers that use a field coil midrange driver, with huge amplifiers to drive them.

DARTZEEL

New speakers that we saw at The Happening, were playing in this room, with a full complement of darTZeel electronics, alongside a Technics turntable. These are natural and spacious sounding speakers, that come across quite effortless.

MOONRIVER AUDIO / OOPS AUDIO SYSTEM

QLM standmounts in this room with Moonriver Audio Model 505 phono stage, Model 606 integrated amp, Lucas Audio digital front end, and two new turntables from Oops Audio System. I enjoyed the sound in here; it had good balance across the board – they were using an AT-VM95SH on the turntable that was playing initially, and then an AT-VM745xML on the other. I like the name of this new company, and the turntable models in this room were the Punch and Wallop.

OEPHI / AIRT

OePhi Immanence 2.5, Kallista streamer, J.Sikora Aspire turntable, Doshi amps, and OePhi cabling – a great pairing with impressive physical punch from the speakers, whilst remaining controlled at all times. They kindly played Heilung for me, and you could feel the impact from the drums, whilst the chanted vocals came across crystal clear. Transients were snappy, and the overall sound was balanced yet energetic, with nothing sounding out of place.

OEPHI / METRONOME / FLOW

Prototype OePhi speakers in this room, paired with an Allegro Audio Flow One MK2 amplifier and Metronome streamer. OePhi cabling throughout, and whilst these speakers didn’t quite match the physical punch of the larger floorstanders, they did throw out a deep soundstage and impressive detail. The midrange is excellent, with a lot of detail without sounding sharp, and transients are equally snappy here. There is also good body to the sound, and they dig deep when needed.

SOUND ALCHEMY

This room had a full SPL stack of electronics, however when I was in the room, they were playing a pair of BEC Akustik speakers, which are a little unconventional. They are thin speakers, paired with a sub, and their own amplifier. Rather impressive sound from these thin speakers, with sub, plenty of oomph and detail.

AUDIOMAGIC

Heed Obelisk Super Integrated amplifier in this room, with a Volumio Rivo+ streamer, and Tonewinner KL-2 speakers. Big, deep sound, perhaps a little too big for this small room, but an enjoyable listen nonetheless.

OSOLA AUDIO LAB

A full Osola Audio Lab system including Reference speakers, and amps, with a LampizatOr DAC. The award for first play of Keith Don’t Go at this show goes to this room. Twangy guitars sounded good, and there was accurate body too, the tweeters were maybe a little hot at times, but overall, a fairly natural sound.

AR ACOUSTICS

AR Acoustics had some rather large speakers in this room, paired with a Pioneer streamer, SACD player, AR Acoustics amp, along with a Rotel Pre/Power combo too. Guess what, Keith Don’t Go followed me in to this room, and it started playing just after I sat down.

HEESKOF AUDIO

Some rather unique looking speakers in here, from Heeskof audio, they are a compact 3-way design and definitely sound bigger than their small cabinet size would suggest. The cabinet is a single piece and they are using SB Acoustics tweeters and midrange, with a Peerless woofer. Good body and clarity across the board, they were paired with a Devialet streaming amp.

FLOOR 1

AUDIO ATELIER

This room had Trenner & Friedl Pharoah speakers, paired with a Lumin streaming server on the digital front end, a Unitra Edmund turntable as the analogue source, Aurorasound phono stage, and integrated valve amp. There was some vocal centric music in here, with a natural and open presentation.

SV AUDIO

SV Audio are well known to us, and they make some cracking speakers. In this room they had their Frida paired with a Vitus Audio RD-0101 MKII streamer, SIA-025 MKII integrated amp, Accuphase DP-450 DC player, and a full set of ZenSati sILENzio cables. These are small standmount speakers, that sound anything but small. They played Metropolis by Schiller and they were pumping out excellent quality bass with both impact and depth, along with superb spatial imaging for the synths and other effects. An impressive sounding setup, with energy and refinement.

LINEA / MUZGAUDIO

Another pair of the superb Linea speakers were playing in this room, paired with a Perfection Connection streamer again, MuzgAUDIO DAC-01LE, and a pair of NEC A-10X integrated amplifiers. These speakers sound huge, with tons of energy, especially when playing some Chemical Brothers.

NATURAL DISTORTION

This room had the Prodigio (formerly known as Popori) electrostat speakers with the brand-new Natural Distortion DSD DAC which doesn’t feature a DAC chip or FPGA. I got to listen to Pray for Rain by Massive Attack track on this kit, and it was quite an experience. I know the Prodigio speakers, and they are quite unlike any other electrostatic speaker I have heard, delivering a truly full-range sound. The Natural Distortion DAC just adds a level of natural sound to their lightning-fast sound. The bass filled the room with ease, yet maintained composure, this is bass you would not expect from an electrostat either, whilst the mids and treble come across with perfect tonality and speed. This is definitely one of the highlights of the show for me personally, and I’m definitely going to read up more on this new DAC.

MEGAACOUSTIC

This was two rooms, joined together, with the same system in both rooms, just one has acoustic treatment, the other doesn’t. A great demo of what room treatment can do, and the Fezz Titania MK2 amp and Pylon Opal 23 MKII speakers sound great together, they were using Tellurium Q cabling throughout the system. The room with acoustic treatment does sound completely different, with a tighter, more controlled sound.

MILOCHA / VREL

In this room you had an Orion turntable from Milocha analog engineering, paired with the Bequadro 2 MKII speakers from Vrel – which are dipoles and don’t have a crossover. More female vocal jazz in here, presented naturally through these big speakers. They were using a Gold Note phono stage along with Manuta Classic pre/power amp combo to drive these speakers.

ARS SONUM

Ars Sonum 2-way Canon speakers were playing in this room, along with an Ars Sonum amp and phono stage – with a Victor turntable. More jazz in here, but incredibly well presented by this kit, with great speed and clarity. There is no overhang in the bass, it’s tight and fast, and tracks piano easily. The stereo imaging is especially good; you can track the piano keys going from right to left with pinpoint accuracy.

AUDIOPHASE

You had the IDEON Ayazi Max in this system, alongside AudioPhase speakers, and Kraken AR6A Evolution integrated amplifier. With the standmounts playing it was quite a full, yet natural sounding room, with plenty of body to the sound and it was easy to listen to. They then moved to the floorstanders, which came across as more detailed and open, without sounding too full in this room – yet still had huge slam when called for.

CAYIN / STUDIO 16 HERTZ / AUDIO SOURCE

In here you had some kit that I’m a little more familiar with, a Keces mains conditioner, full Matrix Audio streaming setup with the ND-1, NT-1, and MS-1, with Cayin Jazz 100 integrated amp, CD transport, and CS-100DAC, paired with Studio 16 Hertz speakers. A great sounding system in here, with good body, clarity, and air.

ALBEDO / AUDIO CONNECT

This room had a full Aqua electronics setup with the La Diva, Formula, and LinQ, paired with a Riviera Levante integrated amplifier, Diapason Didascalia speakers, and full Albedo cabling. Very soft choral music in here, but a good sense of air and space to the sound.

CUBE / QUALIO / TEKTRON

You had a Tektron amp running into Cube open baffle speakers, with a LampizatOr Amber 3 DAC – they were bi-amping this system and had a pair of Fosi audio class-D amps running into the bass drivers whilst the Tektron amp was running into the full-range driver. It was smooth and room filling, with great clarity. They then moved over to the Qualio speakers running off the Tektron and they sounded superb with excellent clarity, air, and transient response – along with bass that shouldn’t come from boxes this small.

PERFECT8

Perfect8 had their The Cube-T speakers on demo in here – this was their European debut; they were paired with a Thrax Audio Ares II integrated amplifier and Neotech Amazon cabling. Interesting looking speakers, with a fairly clean and controlled sound in this room – that came across punchy when needed, with a good level of detail across the board.

ORCHESTALLS / FEZZ

Orchestalls were playing their usual array of classical music through a HiFiRose streamer, into a Fezz Titania MK2 amplifier, into their OCS500CL Miracle speakers. Not really my kind of music, but they worked well with the Fezz and sounded remarkably clean and articulate. Cabling was from Athenamuse.

ORCHESTALLS / FEZZ

In this Orchestalls room you had the OCS600CE speakers, paired with Fezz Titania power amplifier, Sagita Prestige pre-amp, and Equinox Prestige DAC, with a HiFiRose streamer as the source. These bigger speakers reached deeper into the bass, and gave a bit more air to recordings.

OMEGA CONCEPTS

In here you had a full system from Italian brand Omega Concepts – including their CDP Solista, Assolo integrated amplifier, Easy One speakers, and Estremo power plant, with cabling from them too. This was a rather big sounding system; The speakers are rather pretty and managed to pressurise the room whilst letting the finer details shine through too. An enjoyable room, with kit that stands out, and sounds great too.

NEAT ACOUSTICS

Neat had their Iota Alpha II speakers on demo with Moon by Simaudio kit – including the 491 streaming pre, and 461 power amp. These tiny little speakers still amaze me, they defy physics and throw out this huge, room filling sound, from a tiny little box – incredible.

VERSEO

Verseo had two speakers in their room, they were playing the Blue Train model when I went in and they have an AMT tweeter with two mid-bass drivers, in a 2.5 way configuration. They were running these off an Amplifon SET 42 SE valve amp, with DCS Bartok DAC. These speakers sounded very good in here, with a clean, engaging, and punchy sound – they put on some AC/DC and they delivered it with plenty of energy and grit. Brilliant fun, and a great sounding system.

VELIKINAC

There was an Aries Cerat front end in this room, using the Impera II, Kassandra II, and Ianus – paired with a Tomotron streamer and Velikinac horn speakers. These horns sounded great to be fair, and paired well with the Aries Cerat kit, delivering a full bodied yet detailed sound.

AUDIO DESIGN / IGS

More horns in here, Audio Design make the speakers, and IGS do the electronics in this room, including the Thermidt range of amps and DACO DAC – creating a warm, big sound that is rather effortless and fills the room with ease – this was playing through the smaller horns in this room.

GROUND FLOOR

GALERIA

This open space had lots of stalls, for vinyl, CD, and accessory sales.

DNA AUDIO ROOM 1

Revival Audio Atalante Grande Reserve speakers were playing in here, paired with a Lyngdorf TDAI-2210, running into an MXA-8400 power amp, with a CD-2 in the system too. On display around the room were plenty more bits of kit from Lyngdorf, Revival Audio, Davis Acoustics, and Pier Audio.

The system that was playing filled this large room with ease, and Revival know how to make some excellent speakers, with incredibly smooth, yet detailed sound.

TONSIL

This room had two spaces, the first with a demo setup, and the Reference III speakers were playing, paired with a Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 streaming amp. These were clean and controlled speakers, with good depth to their sound. The other area had a display of more Tonsil products.

RAIDHO

They were playing the smaller X1.6 standmount Raidho in this room when I was in here, paired with Accuphase C-2900 pre-amp, DP-770 SACD player, DCS Vivaldi stack,a pair of Accuphase P-7500 power amps, with an Accuphase mains conditioner, and Nordost cabling. They played The Sound Of Silence by Johnny Cash, and it sounded stunningly good through this system, which delivered Cash’s vocals with superb accuracy and a real sense of weight. Up next was Birds by Dominique Fils-Aime and this system had scale, depth, excellent transient response and an accurate yet musical presentation.

FEZZ / PYLON

Fezz and Pylon had and area with models on static display, in their demo room they had their Titania MK2 amp on demo paired with the Pylon Opal 40 MKII – using Tellurium Q cabling throughout. This was a superb sounding system, with great synergy between the components, digging deep into the bass with control and presence, whilst allowing the midrange to shine through with clarity. This system sounded very natural, yet at the same time it was fast and detailed, the Titania MK2 is not a slow sounding amp.

AUDIO GROUP DENMARK

In the Audio Group Denmark room they played Liberty by Anette Askvik, on vinyl using a DS Audio cartridge into their phono stage – it sounded incredible. The main speakers deliver an impressive amount of detail and full-range sound already, but the bass modules add a real sense of depth to the sound, and fill out the lower octaves beautifully, without ever coming across boomy. I’ve heard this kit many times, and it never gets old listening to it, they know how to set up a room, and get it sounding superb. They were using their Borresen A3 speakers, BM2 bass modules, Aavik U-301 streaming amp, R-188 phono stage, D3 cabling and network kit, alongside a Tentogra turntable and DS Labs E3 cartridge.

IDEON / ARTISAN ACOUSTICS

In this room you had some huge Artisan Acoustics Euphoria speakers, paired with IDEON kit, including their Absolute Stream Meta, ION DAC, Axiom DAC, and Exiom stack. There was a Qualiton valve amp in the system too, alongside a Circle Labs streamer, and Lab12 mains conditioner. A big sounding system, as you would expect from this kit, with effortless air and clarity, with bottomless bass when called for – all delivered in a natural and open way.

MAGNA

A smaller hallway display with a Bluetooth speaker playing, along with some displays of their other lifestyle bits and outdoor speakers.

AUDIOPHASE

A big room with lots on static display, along with a demo system with IDEON source kit, Circle Labs M500 amps, P200 pre-amp and Audio Phase Stealth 2 speakers. Snappy and clean sound in here, maybe a little peaky with the trumpet music playing, but overall, well balanced.

PLANETA DZWIEKU

Three systems in this room, with one playing at a time of course. The one playing when I went in the room was using a pair of active ATC SCM50ASL speakers, paired with a CH precision streaming pre, CH Precision phono stage, and an EAT turntable on the rack too. Bjork came on, and as you would expect from these speakers, it sounded incredibly well controlled yet natural and neutral. They do not struggle at all with this music.

The other systems had Vivid Audio paired with Wattson audio, and another pair of Vivid speakers with Audionet electronics.

GOLDNOTE

Gold Note were doing timed slots, with a talk about the brand, their philosophy, and the products. This does mean I didn’t get a chance to hear the system, but they looked to have a great room. The kit list in the room was comprised of a Mediterraneo X turntable with Da Vinci cartridge, PH-1000 Line phono preamplifier, DS-1000 EVO streamer/DAC, TUBE-1012 tube stage, PSU-1250 power supply, two PA-1175 MkII power amplifiers in monoblock configuration, XS-85 loudspeakers in Gold finish and Gold Note cables.

GIGAWATT / MARTON / FONICA

A bit of Kraftwerk in this room, through the brand new Fonica Flag XL isodynamic speakers – a debut at this show. They were being powered by a Marton stereo power amp, Rockna Wavedream, GigaWatt mains conditioning, and J.Sikora turntable. Impressive dynamics and punch from this kit, and superb transient response as you can imagine.

SILENT POUND

Now, I’ll admit we got a sneak listen to these on Thursday before the show started, but I had to come back and have another listen. The new Silent Pound Parallax are an incredible speaker, with 4 x 15” woofers, 4 x 5” midrange drivers, and a compression tweeter – all in a beautiful cabinet. What I love about these, is the story behind them, they are basically the end result of what happens when a speaker designer dreams up their ultimate speaker. These are the result of one man’s dream, and that man is Audrius, the main man behind Silent Pound. These things can play loud if you want them to, but what’s most impressive is the fact they don’t lose their core sound when played at lower volumes. They still deliver an energetic, engaging, and well-balanced sound. If you want them to, they can deliver huge, deep bass, however play them at sensible volumes and you still get all of that punch and depth without the insane pressure. But, when you do decide to have some fun, they pressurise a room unlike any speaker I’ve heard – and it’s not just a party trick, they deliver superb sound quality with a wide, accurate sound stage and superb depth. Wolf Totem by The Hu came on, and the bass beat hits you with impact and presence, then the vocals cut through the mix with effortless clarity, and the strings have excellent texture. Listening to these speakers is an experience, and I highly recommend you have a listen if you ever get the chance to.
