True Tone is a new loudspeaker brand from London and Amsterdam. Every T1 Signature is made in Europe, and assembled, tuned and tested in the Netherlands.
THE T1 SIGNATURE
The idea behind its first speaker, the T1 Signature, was to combine the sound quality and aesthetic of a high-end hi-fi system with the ease of use of modern streaming speakers. The result is an active standmount with tri-amplification, opposed subwoofers, a coaxial mid-high driver and streaming built in.

FROM ARENAS TO LIVING ROOMS
Founder Robbie Frater has spent over fifteen years in professional live sound, engineering and designing sound systems for some of the world’s biggest artists, award shows and sporting events. His credits include Robbie Williams, Fred again.., Faithless, the BRIT Awards and the MTV EMAs.
Live sound taught him that great sound is part art and part science, and that you get the basics right before adding complexity or correction. “I think of it as doing the big brushstrokes first, then getting into the detail,” he says.
“When I started out, we’d mix and match amps, speakers and processors. That teaches you a lot, because you learn to get the best out of whatever’s in front of you. Now artists expect the show to sound the same every night, so professional systems use amplification and processing matched to the cabinet and drivers. Take the inconsistency out of the infrastructure, and you can put your knowledge where it matters: designing the right system for the room.”
That approach is why True Tone exists. “I wanted to bring matched amplification and processing into high-end audio,” Robbie says. “People kept asking me, as a sound engineer, how to put all the pieces together into something that was easy to live with. That’s what led me to start True Tone.”
The same thinking is informing a room correction tool now in development, with further details to follow.

A COMPLETE SOUND SYSTEM IN ONE PAIR
The brief for the T1 Signature was a full system in one pair. Full-range sound, with subwoofers built into each speaker. Amplification, digital-to-analogue conversion, processing and streaming inside. And connections for a turntable, CD player or television.
There is no separate power amplifier, streamer, DAC or rack to buy. Each speaker needs its own mains lead.
The amplification is matched to the drivers, and the processing is tuned to the cabinet they sit in.

INSIDE THE T1 SIGNATURE
The T1 Signature is a three-way, full-range design with a coaxial driver for the midrange and treble, and opposed subwoofers for the low end.
Coaxial mid-high driver. The tweeter sits at the centre of the midrange cone, so both share the same acoustic axis, helping create stable imaging and a focused stereo picture. Because the bass drivers handle the low end, the midrange cone doesn’t have to make large movements. Keeping its excursion small helps reduce intermodulation distortion.
Opposed subwoofers. Each speaker has two 7-inch subwoofer drivers, mounted facing in opposite directions. Their opposing forces reduce cabinet vibration, helping a standmount speaker produce bass with real weight and control.
Tri-amplification. Three discrete amplifier channels per speaker total 600W: 250W for the two subwoofers together, 250W for the midrange and 100W for the tweeter. Each frequency range has dedicated amplification, with no passive crossover between the amplifiers and drivers.
Crossovers and processing. A digital crossover divides the bass drivers from the coaxial unit, and an active analogue crossover separates midrange and treble. The drivers are time-aligned, and digital processing is tuned to the speaker’s response. Two DACs in each speaker convert at up to 32-bit / 384 kHz.
The preliminary frequency range is 33 Hz to 20 kHz, with −3 dB at 33 Hz. Final figures will be confirmed once tuning and verification are complete.

DESIGNED FOR THE HOME, MADE IN EUROPE
How the T1 Signature looks matters as much as how it sounds. Classic proportions and considered finishes give it a timeless character, with optional patterned grilles.
Each speaker measures 230 mm wide, 390 mm high and 260 mm deep, and weighs 15 kg. There are four finishes: Oak and Mahogany veneer, and White and Black paint. Three optional magnetic grille designs, Wave, Diamond and Scale, offer different ways to make the speakers your own. The Signature is designed to look just as good with the grilles off.
The cabinets are made in Europe from FSC-certified MDF. Every speaker is assembled, tuned and tested in the Netherlands.

LIVING WITH THE T1 SIGNATURE
Music streams over Wi-Fi from a phone or computer. Planned compatibility includes Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, AirPlay 2, Roon, UPnP/DLNA and internet radio via Airable.
There’s an analogue input for a turntable with a phono stage or a CD player, an optical input and TV audio return, compatible with eARC, for the television. A subwoofer output with a 12V trigger provides the option of adding an external subwoofer.
The speakers link wirelessly, or through the wired link cable supplied in the box. The T1 Control app is planned to launch with input switching, volume, tone controls and a five-band EQ, with further features to follow.
Every pair comes with a 45-day home trial, because a speaker is best judged in the room it will live in. There’s also a three-year warranty and free delivery to the UK and EU.

NEXT: THE T1 ESSENCE
The Signature is the first in the T1 range. Next comes the T1 Essence, a compact two-way active standmount with a rear passive radiator, built around the same approach to matched amplification, processing and streaming. It is in development and will launch after the Signature, with details and timing published as they are confirmed.
