Wharfedale Nova Series Subwoofers
WHARFEDALE NOVA SERIES: FOUR NEW ACTIVE SUBWOOFERS INTRODUCED
Wharfedale has introduced the Wharfedale Nova Series Subwoofers, a range of four active subwoofers comprising the Nova 8, Nova 10, Nova 12 and Nova 15. The model numbers correspond to the diameter of their main drivers, ranging from 8-inch to 15-inch.
The Wharfedale Nova Series Subwoofer range is intended for applications from compact stereo and desktop systems through to larger listening rooms and home cinema installations.

WHARFEDALE NOVA SERIES SUBWOOFERS
Each model uses a newly developed long-throw driver with a coated paper cone, heavy-duty die-cast chassis, high-roll surround and high-excursion motor system. A large-diameter voice coil is used for thermal efficiency and power handling, while an aluminium shorting ring forms part of the motor structure. The four models also incorporate a downward-firing, mass-loaded passive Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR), designed to extend low-frequency output without using a conventional reflex port.

WHARFEDALE NOVA SERIES AMPLIFICATION AND DSP
The subwoofers use Class D amplification, with nominal power ratings ranging from 200W to 360W depending on the model. Wharfedale says the amplifier, driver, cabinet loading and DSP have been developed as an integrated system. Dynamic EQ is used to adjust the subwoofer’s response at different listening levels, while DSP also manages driver excursion at higher output levels.
SYSTEM INTEGRATION AND CONNECTIONS
All four Wharfedale Nova Series models offer adjustable crossover, phase alignment and level calibration for integration with different speakers and rooms. Connections include stereo RCA line input, with the right channel supporting LFE, stereo RCA line output and speaker-level input via four binding posts. A 12V trigger and USB connection for firmware updates are also included.
