LUMIN N1 Network Switch
LUMIN N1 AUDIOPHILE NETWORK SWITCH ADDS FIBRE CONNECTIVITY AND EXTERNAL CLOCK INPUT
LUMIN has announced the LUMIN N1, a 10-port network switch designed for use within digital audio systems.
The new LUMIN N1 model builds on the company’s L2 network switch and adds four SFP fibre ports alongside six copper RJ45 connections.

LUMIN N1 OFFERS SIX RJ45 AND FOUR SFP PORTS
The N1 provides six copper RJ45 ports and four fibre SFP ports, with LUMIN stating that the combination is intended to offer system flexibility and electrical isolation for connected equipment. The unit requires no configuration, according to the supplied information.

EXTERNAL 10M CLOCK INPUT
A 10M external clock input is included, allowing the N1 to be synchronised with a LUMIN U2X or an external master clock. LUMIN says this is intended to provide synchronisation for the network switch.
LUMIN N1 USES LINEAR POWER SUPPLY
Power is supplied by an internal linear power supply incorporating an extra-large toroidal transformer. The N1 is housed in an aluminium chassis based on the construction used for the D3 and U2 Mini models.
LUMIN N1 DESIGN AND FINISHES
The N1 is available in the same anodised black or raw silver finishes used across the LUMIN range. Its 10-port configuration provides connections for multiple networked components, while the inclusion of SFP ports allows fibre connections to be incorporated into a system.
LUMIN N1 PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
LUMIN N1 is priced at 2290€.
HiFi PiG says: : Network switches remain a contentious part of digital audio, so the LUMIN N1’s combination of fibre connectivity, multiple network ports and an external clock input will be of interest to listeners building more elaborate streaming systems. We’ll be interested to see how it performs in practice.
