VOLUMIO PRIMO V3 STREAMING DAC LAUNCHED WITH UPDATED HARDWARE AND FEATURES
Italian HiFi brand Volumio has announced the third generation of its Primo streaming DAC, the Volumio Primo V3.
The new Volumio Primo V3 Streaming DAC has been redesigned around the company’s latest engineering platform and introduces updated hardware alongside a number of new features aimed at improving performance and flexibility.

According to Volumio, the Primo V3 includes a newer quad-core CPU, a linear power supply stage, an updated analogue output stage and an ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC. Other additions include adjustable analogue output levels, support for higher-resolution PCM playback, a switchable non-oversampling (NOS) mode and eight selectable DAC filters. The analogue outputs are available via both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connections, with output voltage adjustable across eight settings to suit different systems.
VOLUMIO PRIMO V3 STREAMING AND CONNECTIVITY
The Primo V3 runs the latest version of the Volumio operating system and supports playback from local storage, network-attached storage (NAS) and online music streaming services. Compatible services include Tidal, Qobuz, HighResAudio, TuneIn and Spotify, with support for Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Roon.
Connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI video output supporting up to 4K resolution, two USB-A ports, a Micro SD card slot and a 12V trigger output. The HDMI output mirrors the Volumio interface and can be used with an external monitor or television, while touchscreen displays can also be used for direct control.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The streamer is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of DDR4 memory and 16GB of internal eMMC storage. The onboard DAC supports PCM playback up to 384kHz/32-bit, while USB digital output supports PCM up to 1536kHz/32-bit and DSD1024 when used as a digital transport with an external USB DAC.
Other hardware includes an ultra-low phase noise master clock, ultra-low noise Linear Power Supply Stage and selectable DAC filters offering a choice of linear and minimum phase filter characteristics. The chassis measures 27 x 15 x 5cm and weighs 2.5kg.
