CLEARAUDIO N2 MM CARTRIDGE INTRODUCED IN VIENNA
Turntable brand Clearaudio announced the Clearaudio N2, a new moving magnet cartridge designed to offer broad compatibility across a wide range of tonearms while incorporating materials and manufacturing techniques more commonly associated with higher-priced products.
According to the company, the Clearaudio N2 shares the same motor assembly as its existing N1 cartridge but introduces a new housing design aimed at improving versatility and reducing unwanted resonance. The Clearaudio N2 was unveiled at High End Vienna 2026.
CLEARAUDIO N2 MM CARTRIDGE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
The Clearaudio N2 uses a body manufactured from PETG-CF, an engineering polymer reinforced with carbon fibres. The company says this material provides greater rigidity than conventional plastic housings and contributes to lower resonance levels. The cartridge also features a laser-finished black housing and integrated threaded inserts intended to simplify installation and provide secure mounting to compatible headshells.
PERFORMANCE
One of the headline specifications is the cartridge’s 8.5g weight, making it lighter than the aluminium-bodied N1 and potentially suitable for a broader range of tonearms, including lighter designs. Clearaudio states that a more stringent manufacturing selection process has been employed to maintain tighter tolerances. The N2 offers a quoted output voltage of 3.3mV, placing it in line with the output levels found in the company’s Concept v2 series.
