JPLAY Update Introduces HQPlayer Integration
JPLAY UPDATE ADDS HQPLAYER SUPPORT, SMART PLAYLISTS AND HISTORY SCREEN
The latest update to the JPLAY app brings native support for HQPlayer libraries, allowing users of HQPlayer Embedded and Desktop to browse, control and play their collections directly within the app.
This removes the need for a separate UPnP server and consolidates playback and library management into a single interface.

NEW HISTORY SCREEN IN JPLAY UPDATE
A redesigned History screen has been added, enabling users to revisit previously played music. Content is organised by day, with a calendar view that highlights listening activity. A new “Recent Listening” widget on the home screen provides quick access, while the feature is also available through the side menu.
SMART PLAYLISTS IN JPLAY UPDATE
The update introduces Smart Playlists, which are automatically generated based on user-defined filters such as genre, year, library source and audio quality. This allows users to create playlists dynamically without manual input, offering an alternative way to explore music collections.
BROADER FUNCTIONALITY OF JPLAY APP
Alongside the new features, the app continues to support integration with streaming services including Qobuz, Tidal and HIGHRESAUDIO, as well as local UPnP libraries and HQPlayer. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs, and is designed to function as a control point for a wide range of network streamers and DACs.
JPLAY UPDATE AVAILABILITY
The update is available now as a free download for existing users via the App Store, bringing the new functionality to current installations of the app.
Pricing for the app includes a yearly subscription of $49 and a lifetime licence priced at $199, with an upgrade option for existing subscribers at $149. A two-week free trial is also available.
HiFi PiG says: JPLAY continues to add more functionality and choice for Apple based streaming fans.
