CYRUS 40 PPA PHONO PREAMPLIFIER LAUNCHES INTO PRODUCTION

Cyrus Audio has officially launched the Cyrus 40 PPA Phono Preamplifier, which is now in full production and shipping to Cyrus retailers.

First unveiled at the Bristol HiFi Show earlier this year, the 40 PPA marks the latest addition to the British company’s growing 40 Series, visitors to the North West Audio Show 2025 were able to experience it in the system on demo there.

The Cyrus 40 PPA Phono Preamplifier follows in the footsteps of the brand’s earlier models, including the Phono X and the well-regarded Phono Signature, which debuted around Cyrus’ 30th anniversary. Designed to push sonic boundaries, the 40 PPA represents a significant upgrade over previous designs, both technically and aesthetically.

ENGINEERING ADVANCEMENTS IN THE CYRUS 40 PPA PHONO PREAMPLIFIER

Cyrus has completely redesigned the internal circuitry for the 40 PPA. The new six-layer PCB layout is engineered to reduce interference by isolating key circuit paths, aiming to lower noise to near-zero levels. A new power supply reduces noise by 20% compared to its predecessor, the Classic PHONO. Gain control has been refined, now adjustable in precise 5dB increments.

SETUP SIMPLICITY WITH REMOTE CONTROL ACCESS

A notable feature of the Cyrus 40 PPA Phono Preamplifier is its convenience-focused design. Most setup functions, including cartridge fine-tuning, can be controlled via remote and viewed on the unit’s glass display. This allows listeners to make adjustments from their seat, eliminating the need for repeated manual tweaks.

MULTI-TURNTABLE CONNECTIVITY AND CONFIGURABILITY

The 40 PPA can accommodate up to four turntables simultaneously, with support for both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges. Users benefit from XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced output options, making integration into a wide range of HiFi systems straightforward.

Key features include configurable MC inputs for gain, load and capacitance; stereo output level meters with peak hold for gain optimisation; a warp filter to minimise bass distortion from warped records; a ground lift switch to address hum issues; and compatibility with the Cyrus 40 PSU for further performance enhancement. The unit comes with a five-year warranty as standard.
