REL ACOUSTICS PLANAR SUBWOOFER RANGE INTRODUCES FLEXIBLE PLACEMENT OPTIONS
REL Acoustics has announced the new REL Planar Subwoofers, a new subwoofer category designed around flexible placement and integration into modern living spaces.
The new REL Planar Subwoofer range has been developed to support a variety of installation methods, including wall mounting, floor placement, use on a rolling cart, and integration with in-wall loudspeaker systems.
REL PLANAR SUBWOOFERS DESIGNED FOR WALL-COUPLED PERFORMANCE
According to REL, the Planar models are engineered to work in conjunction with room boundaries rather than simply being positioned close to a wall. The company says the design uses wall-coupled acoustic reinforcement to increase effective output without requiring additional amplifier power, while also distributing bass energy across the full height of the wall surface.
The range also incorporates REL’s Airship Direct wireless connectivity technology, allowing cable-free integration into a wider variety of room layouts and system configurations.
REL PLANAR PL-1 AND PL-2 MODELS
REL says the aim of the Planar series is to allow users greater freedom when positioning subwoofers in domestic environments where space or room layout can often limit conventional placement options. The company describes the range as intended to integrate into everyday living spaces while maintaining full low-frequency performance.
Two models have been announced in the range, the PL-1 and PL-2.

REL PLANAR PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
UK pricing for the REL Acoustics Planar range is confirmed as £1,999 for the PL-1 and £2,999 for the PL-2. US pricing is listed at $2,499 for the PL-1 and $3,299 for the PL-2.
