Reed launches new optical cartridge, equaliser and power supply at High End Munich 2025.
REED SF OPTICAL CARTRIDGE
Lithuanian audio manufacturer Reed has introduced the Reed SF, an optical cartridge that diverges from conventional magnetic designs. Utilising a laser-based optical system, the Reed SF aims to reduce mechanical interference and stylus pressure, potentially offering a different perspective on vinyl playback. The cartridge features a sapphire cantilever and a Shibata stylus, with a tracking force range of 1.5 to 2.0 grams. Its output is compatible with dedicated optical phono stages.
REED EQ PHONO EQUALISER: TAILORED FOR OPTICAL CARTRIDGES
Complementing the Reed SF, the Reed EQ phono equaliser is designed specifically for optical cartridges. It provides RIAA equalisation and includes a mono switch for flexibility in playback. The unit offers both RCA and balanced XLR outputs, catering to various system configurations. The Reed EQ is powered by the Reed PS, an external power supply that aims to minimise noise interference.
REED PS POWER SUPPLY
The Reed PS serves as the external power source for the Reed EQ phono equaliser. It is designed to provide stable and clean power, which is crucial for the performance of sensitive audio equipment. The use of an external power supply is intended to reduce potential noise and interference, contributing to the overall audio fidelity of the system.
