QLANG M4S ACTIVE LOUDSPEAKERS INTRODUCED BY SEEFLUTH AUDIO
Seefluth Audio has introduced the Qlang M4s, a compact active loudspeaker developed and handcrafted by Michael Seefluth, founder of Seefluth Audio and the Qlang loudspeaker series.
The German-made Qlang M4s design combines active amplification and DSP-based acoustic tuning with a slim solid-wood cabinet measuring 12 cm deep. The company says the M4s has been developed with a focus on integration into domestic listening environments and individual room optimisation.
QLANG M4S ACTIVE LOUDSPEAKERS
The M4s uses a solid-wood enclosure with a closely spaced internal matrix structure intended to minimise cabinet resonance. The sealed cabinet incorporates a passive bass radiator, while the drive-unit complement comprises 18 cm SEAS mid/bass drivers with coated paper cones and a pair of Morel silk-dome tweeters from the manufacturer’s premium series. The loudspeakers also use two-channel Class D amplification from Hypex and a DSP-controlled active crossover.
ACTIVE AMPLIFICATION AND DSP
The combination of built-in amplification and DSP means the M4s does not require a separate power amplifier or passive crossover arrangement. According to Seefluth Audio, the DSP is used for acoustic tuning, with the overall system designed to be adjusted to the characteristics of the listening room. The manufacturer also says its choice of components takes account of long-term reliability and the availability of replacement parts.
QLANG M4S ROOM TUNING
Room integration forms part of the Qlang M4s Founders’ Edition. Michael Seefluth will personally deliver each of the first 20 pairs to customers within 800 km of his workshop. He will position, measure and fine-tune each system according to the acoustic characteristics of the individual listening room.
QLANG M4S DIRECT SALES AND PRODUCTION
Qlang loudspeakers are produced in small runs at Seefluth Audio’s manufactory in Bühl/Baden, Germany, with the company operating a direct-sales model. The manufacturer describes Qlang as a new loudspeaker brand focused on active designs and individual customer requirements, with direct communication between the developer and customer forming part of its approach.
