Mytek Audio has launched its new Mytek Empire V2.0 flagship DAC/Streamer/Preamplifier, it made its official debut in Warsaw at the Audio Video Show.

The Mytek Empire V2.0 DAC/Streamer features an updated dual-mono hybrid 6-bit DAC design, alongside revised circuitry and an upgraded software platform.

MYTEK EMPIRE V2.0 DAC TECHNOLOGY

The Empire V2.0 uses a dual-mono hybrid DAC architecture, combining customised chipsets and digital signal processing. Mytek specifies support for PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD up to DSD512. The design also incorporates separate power transformers for the left and right channels, an updated analogue output stage and a choice of analogue or digital volume control.

The unit has six analogue inputs (two balanced XLR and four RCA) and four digital inputs, comprising two coaxial, one optical and USB. It can also operate as a standalone DAC.

MYTEK EMPIRE V2.0 STREAMING AND SOFTWARE

Streaming options include Qobuz Connect and Roon Core, with Tidal and Spotify Connect also listed in the launch announcement as planned additions. The streamer is powered by Intel NUC computing hardware and runs Mytek OS, based on Ubuntu Linux. Operation is available through a smartphone or tablet, with a touchscreen on the front panel.

An internal 8TB SSD provides music storage, with provision for custom configurations up to 16TB. External USB and network storage are also supported. Mytek says the software platform will receive internet-delivered updates, adding functionality and DSP options over time.

RECORDING AND DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING

The Empire V2.0 also includes a built-in mastering ADC, allowing analogue sources such as vinyl to be recorded in high resolution and stored on its internal drive for playback. Its DSP architecture is designed to support software plug-ins for applications including room correction and record noise removal.

MYTEK EMPIRE GANFET AMPLIFIERS

Alongside the streamer, Mytek offers matching Empire GanFET power amplifiers. These Class D amplifiers use gallium nitride transistors and can operate individually in stereo mode or as a pair in monoblock, bi-amping or bridged configurations. Each amplifier provides 2 x 400W into 4 Ohms or 2 x 200W into 8 Ohms in stereo mode.

MYTEK AUDIO BACKGROUND

Founded in New York in 1992 by Michal Jurewicz, Mytek Audio initially developed digital audio equipment for professional recording studios. The company now produces both professional and domestic audio electronics, with its headquarters in New York and European operations and manufacturing in Warsaw, Poland.

MYTEK EMPIRE V2.0 DAC/STREAMER PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Mytek Empire V2.0 is available in silver or black aluminium finishes, priced at €20,000 / $20,000. The matching Empire GanFET amplifiers are priced at €10,000 / $10,000 each. Both products are shipping now.

HiFi PiG says: The Mytek Empire V2.0 brings DAC, streaming, preamplifier and high-resolution analogue recording capabilities together in one component, with Mytek also offering matching GanFET power amplifiers for a complete system.
