FOCAL SCALA UTOPIA EVO M LOUDSPEAKER INTRODUCED WITH NEW PRISM TWEETER AND M-PROFILE MIDRANGE
French HiFi brand Focal has announced the Focal Scala Utopia Evo M loudspeaker, the latest version of its Scala Utopia loudspeaker.
The new Focal Scala Utopia Evo M model retains the established three-way design while introducing two new drive unit technologies: the PRISM tweeter and the M-profile W midrange. According to Focal, these developments are intended to further improve accuracy and reduce distortion in the speaker’s performance.
FOCAL SCALA UTOPIA EVO M FEATURES
The Focal Scala Utopia Evo M uses the M-profile W midrange first developed for the company’s Utopia Main professional studio range. The driver combines a sandwich-structure W cone with a one-piece M-profile geometry, designed to improve rigidity, linearity and reduce distortion.
The loudspeaker also introduces the PRISM tweeter to the Scala range. Previously seen in the Diva Alta Utopia, the tweeter uses a multi-material diaphragm and micro-structured construction. It is partnered with Focal’s Infinite Acoustic Loading (IAL) technology for high-frequency reproduction.
FOCAL TECHNOLOGIES
Alongside the new drivers, the Scala Utopia Evo M incorporates several existing Focal technologies. These include the TMD suspension system to reduce cone deformation, a redesigned W woofer with a dual-ferrite motor, OPC+ crossover adjustment for tailoring bass and treble to the listening room, and Gamma and Focus Time technologies for driver alignment and cabinet stability.
FRENCH DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE
The Scala Utopia Evo M is designed and manufactured in France. The cabinet is produced in Burgundy, while the drive units are built at Focal’s facilities in Saint-Étienne. The loudspeaker will be available in both lacquered and wood finishes. Focal also notes that the speaker has been designed to partner with Naim electronics as part of a complete HiFi system.
