MANUNTA CLASSIC PREAMPLIFIER AND POWER AMPLIFIER LAUNCH

Manunta Classic Preamplifier And Manunta Classic Power Amplifier hifi news

Manunta by Italian HiFi brand M2Tech has announced the availability of its Manunta Classic Preamplifier and Manunta Classic Power Amplifier.

The two new components expand the Classic range, introduced in 2024 with the Manunta Classic Integrated Amplifier, and feature solid chassis with brushed aluminium front panels and a design influenced by HiFi components from the 1980s and 1990s.

MANUNTA CLASSIC PREAMPLIFIER

The Manunta Classic Preamplifier uses a discrete-component line stage designed to handle dynamic changes in music and drive demanding loads, including power amplifiers with low input impedance and long, high-capacitance signal cables. Its balanced outputs incorporate Lundahl transformers intended to drive challenging loads, including active speakers with balanced inputs.

The preamplifier includes MM and MC phono stages, with a dedicated MC pre-preamp providing adjustable input impedance from 10 ohms to 1k ohm. In MM mode, the MC pre-preamp is bypassed and the input impedance is 47k ohms. The phono stage also features improved power-supply filtering compared with the circuit used in the Classic Integrated Amplifier.

Connectivity includes three unbalanced RCA line inputs, two balanced XLR inputs and an RCA phono input supporting MM and MC cartridges. RCA and XLR outputs are provided, alongside an RCA equaliser loop. The unit also incorporates a discrete-component headphone amplifier, with a maximum output of 15Vrms into 32 ohms.

Additional features include volume and balance controls, mute, standby and trigger connections. A wireless module allows remote control via a free smartphone app available for Android and Apple devices. The unit measures 420 x 90 x 310mm and weighs 12kg.

MANUNTA CLASSIC POWER AMPLIFIER

The Classic Power Amplifier is a stereo power amplifier rated at 75W RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 110W RMS per channel into 4 ohms. Its dynamic output reaches 170W RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 270W RMS per channel into 4 ohms for 10-millisecond bursts.

Its dual-mono power supply uses two dedicated transformers, one for each channel. The design omits electronic protection circuits, instead relying on an oversized power amplifier design and thermal sensors to help prevent the output transistors from overheating. The specified total harmonic distortion plus noise is 0.02% at maximum power into 8 ohms.

Two analogue VU meters display output levels, with a 50dB dynamic range and scales calibrated in decibels and watts for 8-ohm loads. An infrared receiver allows the meters’ brightness to be adjusted using a Manunta remote control.

The amplifier also has two trigger connections that support pass-through operation, allowing it to be switched on and off via a compatible preamplifier. Inputs comprise stereo RCA and XLR connections, with speaker outputs provided. The Classic Power Amplifier measures 420 x 120 x 310mm, weighs 19kg and has a specified power consumption of 320VA.

MANUNTA CLASSIC PREAMPLIFIER AND CLASSIC POWER AMPLIFIER PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Both models are available through authorised dealers. The Manunta Classic Preamplifier costs €6,299 plus VAT, while the Manunta Classic Power Amplifier costs €5,099 plus VAT.

HiFi PiG says: The Manunta Classic separates offer a traditional approach with modern connectivity, MM/MC phono support and headphone amplification. The power amplifier’s dynamic output is worth noting for handling musical peaks…as is the cool retro styling and VU meters.
