Technics SL-1200 55th Anniversary Edition Turntable
GOLDEN TECHNICS SL-1200 55TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION TURNTABLE ANNOUNCED
Technics has announced the Technics SL-1200 55th Anniversary Edition, a limited-edition turntable marking 55 years of the SL-1200 Series with gold.
Global release of the Technics SL-1200 55th Anniversary Edition Turntable is planned for September 2026, with the first public appearance scheduled for DMC DJs Day Poland in Warsaw on 20th August. Production will be limited to 12,000 units worldwide, with each turntable carrying an individually engraved anniversary badge and serial number.
TECHNICS SL-1200 55TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION TURNTABLE
The anniversary model retains the familiar SL-1200 design but adds gold-coloured detailing. Seven colourways will be available: Gold, Blue, Red, Black, Green, White and Grey. Gold accents include an anodised S-shaped aluminium tonearm, platter rim and strobe markings, knobs and buttons, tonearm base and a specially designed gold-themed slip mat.
TECHNICS SL-1200 SERIES DJ HERITAGE
The SL-1200 was introduced in 1972 as a direct-drive turntable developed for demanding music listeners. Its high-torque motor, stable rotation, rapid start-up and robust construction subsequently made it popular with DJs. The press release notes that torque, pitch control, strobe markings and resistance to vibration helped support techniques including beat-matching, cueing and scratching as DJ and club culture developed.
TECHNICS SL-1200 55TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION TECHNOLOGY
The new anniversary edition is based technically on the SL-1200MK7 platform. It uses an iron-coreless direct-drive motor with a single-stator/single-rotor configuration and digital control, while the pitch fader provides adjustment of up to ±16%. The aluminium S-shaped tonearm has adjustable height to accommodate a wider range of cartridges, and the turntable also includes Reverse Play mode.

The SL-1200 55th Anniversary Edition was unveiled through a DJ set featuring YOUSUKE YUKIMATSU, with the event made available through the Resident Advisor YouTube channel. Its first public appearance will take place at Fabryka Norblina in Warsaw during DMC DJs Day Poland on 20th August. The global launch is planned for September 2026.
