EVOVINYL MUSIC WEEK AWARDS 2026 NOMINATION
Evolution Music has been nominated in the Music Consumer Innovation category at the Music Week Awards 2026 for its EvoVinyl material, developed as an alternative to traditional vinyl production compounds.
The awards recognise achievements across the UK music industry, with winners set to be announced on 7th of May at Grosvenor House, London.
PMC AND EVOVINYL DEVELOPMENT BACKGROUND
The project is backed by PMC Loudspeakers, which invested in Evolution Music following discussions between PMC chairman Peter Thomas, producer Bill Gautier, and Evolution Music CEO Marc Carey, back in 2024, read more here. The collaboration reflects a shared interest in addressing the environmental impact associated with vinyl record manufacturing.
EVOVINYL MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION
EvoVinyl has been developed as a plant-based substitute for PVC, the material traditionally used in record pressing. Derived from sugar cane, the compound is designed to be compostable and aims to reduce the environmental footprint of vinyl production. The company states that sustainability has been considered throughout the manufacturing process.
The material has completed production trials and listening evaluations, and is now positioned for commercial rollout. Evolution Music has confirmed that releases from established artists are expected to appear on EvoVinyl records, following an industry launch event attended by record labels and partners.
While PVC accounts for a relatively small proportion of global plastic use, its environmental profile has been widely discussed. EvoVinyl’s development reflects broader efforts within the music sector to explore alternative materials and reduce environmental impact without altering the core format of vinyl playback.

The Music Week Awards are peer-voted and judged by an independent panel, covering sectors including labels, publishing, live events and management. The nomination highlights ongoing interest within the industry in innovation linked to sustainability, with EvoVinyl positioned among projects addressing production-related challenges.
