Musical Fidelity M5xi And Musical Fidelity M6xi Integrated Amplifiers
NEXT GEN MUSICAL FIDELITY M5XI AND M6XI INTEGRATED AMPLIFIERS LAUNCHED
Musical Fidelity has introduced the Musical Fidelity M5xi and Musical Fidelity M6xi Integrated Amplifiers, expanding its M-Series range.
The new Musical Fidelity M5xi and Musical Fidelity M6xi models are positioned as updated iterations of earlier designs, with a focus on core amplification and long-term usability. Neither model includes built-in streaming, instead allowing users to integrate external sources as required.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M5XI AND M6XI DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
Both amplifiers are based on technologies derived from Musical Fidelity’s TITAN platform. They use dual-mono configurations with separate pre-amplifier stages and low-distortion Darlington output stages. Internal construction has been revised to reduce electromagnetic interference, including shielded transformer and power supply sections, alongside optimised PCB layouts.
Analogue power supplies are employed throughout to minimise high-frequency noise and maintain signal integrity.
POWER AND PERFORMANCE
The M5xi delivers 160W per channel into 8 ohms (240W into 4 ohms), while the M6xi offers 220W per channel into 8 ohms (320W into 4 ohms). Both models are specified with low total harmonic distortion and high current capability, with peak-to-peak current rated at 45A.
Each amplifier features a fully analogue preamplifier stage and a Burr-Brown stepped attenuator for volume control, supporting consistent channel balance across listening levels.
Both models use solid metal construction and incorporate internal shielding to reduce interference. They are designed for straightforward integration into a variety of systems, including custom installations. A new M-Series remote control is supplied, and front panel operation is kept simple with clearly labelled controls.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M5XI CONNECTIVITY AND FEATURES
The M5xi includes four RCA inputs, an MM/MC phono stage, and digital connectivity via HDMI eARC, coaxial, optical and USB-C inputs supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz. Additional connections include a home theatre bypass, line output, pre output and RS232 input for system integration.
A 5V/2A USB-A output is also included for powering external streaming devices. The unit is available in black or silver finishes.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M6XI CONNECTIVITY AND FEATURES
The M6xi mirrors the M5xi’s connectivity but adds a balanced XLR input. It also includes HDMI eARC, USB-C DAC functionality and a phono stage, along with line-level and pre outputs, RS232 control and USB-A power output.
The larger chassis accommodates increased power output and internal capacity.
MUSICAL FIDELITY M5XI AND MUSICAL FIDELITY M6XI PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The Musical Fidelity M5xi is priced at £2,099 / €2,290 / $2,690, while the M6xi is priced at £2,699 / €2,990 / $3,499. Both models are scheduled to ship in the UK in limited quantities from May 2026 and will be available through UK distributor Henlay Audio.
