We Are Rewind has collaborated with Duran Duran on the We Are Rewind WE-001 Duran Duran Special Edition portable cassette player, released alongside a reissued cassette version of the band’s 2000 album Pop Trash.
The launch marks the album’s 25th anniversary and pairs the music with a device designed to echo the era when cassette listening was central to the band’s audience.

The WE-001 Duran Duran Special Edition reflects the group’s familiar chrome-influenced aesthetic, combining a visually stylised exterior with an aluminium build and modern functionality.
The player incorporates an updated headphone amplifier created specifically for cassette playback, Bluetooth for wireless listening, a 3.5mm output for wired headphones, and USB-C charging that provides up to 12 hours of use. Recording is supported via a powered microphone input or line-in, and a pencil is included for manual tape adjustment, acknowledging long-standing cassette practice.
THE COLLABORATION AND ITS CONTEXT
Duran Duran creative art director Andrew Day noted that Pop Trash originally arrived at a time when streaming was barely emerging, making its cassette reissue a fitting anniversary format. We Are Rewind founder and CEO Romain Boudruche added that the band’s strong visual identity and connection to physical media made the partnership a natural extension of their legacy. The release comes as cassette interest continues to rise, with UK cassette sales up significantly in early 2025.
