Chord Electronics has refined the Chord Mojo 2 DAC/headphone amplifier with a new 4.4 mm headphone output and switchable USB-C charging.

NEW CHORD MOJO 2 DAC AND HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER

The 4.4 mm socket on the new Chord Mojo 2 replaces one of the original 3.5 mm outputs, expanding compatibility with a wider range of contemporary high-performance headphones while still retaining a single 3.5 mm connection.

Both outputs include independent volume memory, allowing users to store tailored volume levels for different headphones. The USB-C port now supports both data and charging, simplifying everyday use and responding to customer requests for a more streamlined connection system.

TECHNOLOGY AND FEATURES OF THE CHORD ELECTRONICS MOJO 2

The Mojo 2 continues to use Chord Electronics’ proprietary FPGA-based DAC architecture, developed over more than two decades to achieve precise digital-to-analogue conversion for portable and home HiFi listening. At the core of the design is the lossless 104-bit UHD DSP, which enables full-band tone adjustment without reducing sound quality. This processing is intended to give greater flexibility when pairing the Mojo 2 with a wide range of headphones, systems, and music sources. A button-based menu system provides access to the tone controls, four-stage crossfeed, mute, button lock, and the new USB-C charge control, operated through Chord’s colour-coded polychromatic spheres.

POWER MANAGEMENT AND BUILD QUALITY

Battery performance has been enhanced using a redesigned FPGA-controlled charging system, which offers faster and cooler charging with reduced power loss compared with the original Mojo, while maintaining a minimum battery life of over eight hours. The updated Intelligent Desktop Mode allows permanent connection to a power source without negatively affecting the battery. Connectivity includes USB-C (data and charging), Micro-USB (data), optical and coaxial inputs, including support for dual-data mode when used with the M Scaler. The continued inclusion of Micro-USB ensures full compatibility with the Poly streaming module. As with previous Chord Electronics designs, the Mojo 2 is handmade in Kent using a CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminium chassis for durability and portability.
