Ultrafide Audio has announced the launch of the new Ultrafide Audio SP500 Stereo Power Amplifier.
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 Stereo Power Amplifier Is a model that follows the company’s approach of bringing professional audio design experience into domestic HiFi.
ULTRAFIDE AUDIO SP500 STEREO POWER AMPLIFIER
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 has been developed as a more compact and visually minimal companion to the company’s existing U500DC amplifier. While adopting a simpler straight-edged casework style, it maintains the same output power and core sonic engineering approach. This aims to make the SP500 suitable for systems where visual integration and reduced space requirements are priorities.
ULTRAFIDE AUDIO AND ULTRA SIGMA TECHNOLOGY
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 employs the company’s Ultra Sigma output topology, originally introduced in the U500DC. This in-house amplifier architecture is designed to deliver clean signal performance and clarity, drawing from MC2 Audio and XTA Electronics’ background in live sound and studio engineering.
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 includes both RCA and XLR inputs, XLR link outputs, and offers binding posts alongside speakON speaker connections. The amplifier features DC coupling from input to output for direct signal handling. Its construction also allows the unit to be rack mounted if required, broadening its use into reference studio, custom installation, and home cinema setups in addition to domestic two-channel HiFi systems.
ENGINEERING BACKGROUND AND DEVELOPMENT
Ultrafide Audio draws on three decades of professional audio manufacturing through its parent companies MC2 Audio and XTA Electronics. The SP500 was developed with input from experienced pro audio designer Alex Cooper, with an emphasis on audio fidelity and stereo imaging. The company notes that the internal electronics of the SP500 closely follow those of the U500DC, with only minor changes relating to input and output configuration.
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 is positioned for use in a range of high-quality listening environments. Its design aims to balance domestic system compatibility with capability suited to studio monitoring and residential technical installations. The casing layout and scale are intended to allow the amplifier to blend with mixed-brand HiFi systems without drawing visual focus.
