XAVIAN GRANDE UNICA FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKERS LAUNCHED
Xavian has announced the Xavian Grande Unica, a new floorstanding loudspeaker that builds on the company’s existing Unica design.
Developed and manufactured in the Czech Republic, the Xavian Grande Unica is positioned as a larger, full-range model intended for domestic listening spaces and joins the brand’s Natura range of speakers.
XAVIAN GRANDE UNICA LOUDSPEAKERS
The Xavian Grande Unica draws directly on experience gained from the smaller Xavian Unica standmount, which launched towards the end of 2025, and earlier models such as Madre Perla, while also incorporating ideas used across Xavian’s Natura series. The aim is to scale up the Unica concept without altering its fundamental design approach or intended use.
CABINET CONSTRUCTION
Cabinets for the Xavian Grande Unica are built from 23 mm-thick solid oak and are produced in Xavian’s Hostivice workshops. The use of solid wood, rather than veneered composite panels, is central to the design. Rounded edges, curved corners and the organically shaped bass reflex port are formed through manual processes rather than automated machining.
MATERIALS AND FINISH
The oak cabinets of the Xavian Grande Unica are finished with a matte varnish containing natural wax. This treatment is intended to preserve the appearance of the wood grain while providing surface protection. As with other Xavian loudspeakers using solid wood, visual variations between individual pairs are expected.
XAVIAN GRANDE UNICA DRIVER AND CROSSOVER DESIGN
The Xavian Grande Unica uses custom AudioBarletta drive units manufactured in Italy. These are paired with a crossover network built using selected components from Jantzen. Xavian states that the crossover and overall system parameters have been tuned to ensure amplifier compatibility, with no specific requirement for high-powered or specialist electronics.
Compared with the original Unica, the Xavian Grande Unica is described as offering greater scale and bass extension. Sensitivity is higher than the smaller model, which should make the speaker easier to drive. The design emphasis is on balanced, full-range performance rather than extreme output levels.
ROOM PLACEMENT
The Xavian Grande Unica is designed for use in standard-sized listening rooms. Xavian recommends positioning the speakers relatively close to a rear wall, at around 10–20cm, and states that no complex setup procedures are required. This places the Grande Unica firmly in the category of speakers intended for straightforward domestic integration.
Rather than targeting large or acoustically treated spaces, the Xavian Grande Unica has been voiced for what the company describes as “normal listening”. This includes typical room dimensions, conventional furniture layouts and a wide range of music genres, without the need for extensive system tuning.
