VIVID AUDIO INTRODUCES NEW GIYA Cu LOUDSPEAKERS
Vivid Audio has announced the new Vivid Audio Giya Cu (Copper) loudspeaker range, the latest development in the company’s long-running Giya series.
The new models debut today continuing the company’s approach of combining technical engineering with distinctive design.
VIVID AUDIO GIYA CU LOUDSPEAKERS
The Vivid Audio Giya Cu retains the characteristic Giya form but introduces a revised enclosure. The cabinet has been re-engineered to be lighter, stiffer, and smoother, offering enhanced structural rigidity. In the G3 Cu and G4 Cu models, the tapered tubes are now housed within the main body using re-entrant absorbers, resulting in a more unified appearance similar to the larger G2 Cu and G1 Spirit Cu loudspeakers.

COPPER-CAPPED MIDRANGE DRIVERS
A notable technical update across the Vivid Audio Giya Cu range is the use of copper-capped upper and lower midrange drivers. This approach, first implemented in the company’s Moya M1 flagship model, aims to reduce both second and third harmonic distortion. Vivid Audio states that the inclusion of copper caps in its in-house drivers lowers distortion by up to 20 dB for the third harmonic, potentially improving midrange clarity and bass definition.
ENGINEERING FEATURES AND MATERIALS
The Vivid Audio Giya Cu series incorporates the company’s established engineering principles and materials. These include:
Catenary dome profiles for controlled diaphragm behaviour
Tapered tube loading on all drivers to manage resonance
Reaction-cancelling compliant mounts for mechanical stability
Super flux magnet systems for efficient driver control
Aerodynamically designed reaction-cancelling ports
Resin-infused glass and carbon fibre composite enclosures using a stressed skin construction
These elements form the basis of Vivid Audio’s ongoing design philosophy, aimed at reducing distortion and coloration.
REVISED CROSSOVER AND TERMINAL ACCESS
The Vivid Audio Giya Cu loudspeakers also feature a reworked crossover network, intended to improve the integration between frequency bands. Additionally, the models include easier access loudspeaker terminals to assist with setup and system connection. The new design also introduces individual Moya-style grilles, giving a visual link to Vivid Audio’s top-tier series.
VIVID AUDIO GIYA CU LOUDSPEAKERS MANUFACTURE AND PRODUCTION
All Vivid Audio Giya Cu models are designed and built at the company’s facility in Durban, South Africa. Around 35 technicians and craftspeople are involved in the production process, which includes the manufacture of drivers, crossovers, and enclosures. This in-house approach allows the company to maintain control over quality and consistency across its product line.
VIVID AUDIO BACKGROUND AND DEVELOPMENT
Vivid Audio was founded in 2001 by Philip Guttentag and Laurence Dickie. Dickie, who leads the engineering team, is known for his earlier work on the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus and for contributions to loudspeaker design recognised by a Queen’s Award for technological innovation. The Giya series, now entering its third generation, continues the company’s focus on in-house driver design and composite cabinet construction.
VIVID AUDIO GIYA CU LOUDSPEAKERS LINE-UP AND CONFIGURATION
The Vivid Audio Giya Cu range will be available in four models, each following a four-way, five-driver format: Giya G1 Spirit Cu, Giya G2 Cu, Giya G3 Cu and Giya G4 Cu.
