VIRTUAL HIFI VIPER LOUDSPEAKERS: COMPACT MONITORS MADE BY ADVANCED 3D PRINTING

Virtual HiFi Viper Loudspeakers hifi news

Virtual HiFi has introduced its first loudspeaker, the Virtual HiFi Viper Loudspeakers, expanding the company’s work in 3D printed audio products, including anti-vibration footers.

The brand was founded by Grzegorz Rulka, who also continues to run the Polish Hifi brands Cube Audio and Qualio, whom we have followed for many years.

VIRTUAL HIFI VIPER LOUDSPEAKERS

The Viper is a compact mini monitor designed to offer a full range presentation, including bass extension below 40 Hz.The Virtual HiFi Viper Loudspeakers feature a 10 mm thick 3D printed PETG pyramidal wall cabinet, intended to reduce resonances by offering greater rigidity than conventional MDF or plywood. Each enclosure takes more than 120 hours to produce and is finished with a satin surface texture. Drive units include a Dayton Audio Epique 150 mm carbon fibre mid bass driver with 14 mm linear excursion, supported by two 180 mm passive radiators that extend the low frequency output.

TWEETER AND INTERNAL COMPONENTS

High frequencies are handled by a Mundorf dipole AMT tweeter with a large diaphragm area, designed to improve dispersion and create a more open sound. The tweeter is mechanically decoupled using a 3D printed TPU elastomer connector. The crossover network includes Duelund tinned copper internal cabling, Mundorf MCap EVO capacitors, MResist Supreme resistors and wax impregnated Litz wire inductors. The rear panel is made from 6 mm stainless steel and is fitted with WBT Nextgen silver binding posts.

PERFORMANCE AND APPLICATIONS

With a sensitivity of 83 dB and a 4 ohm load, the Virtual HiFi Viper Loudspeakers are best partnered with powerful amplification, with around 200 watts recommended. The design is intended for use in small to medium sized rooms or near field setups, where compact dimensions are a priority. An integrated 80 Hz high pass filter is provided for easier integration with a subwoofer if additional bass extension is required.
