Atlas Cables, the engineering-led British audio and video cable manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new Ascent 3.5 MKII speaker cable. As the entry point to Atlas’ Reference range of audiophile cables, the Ascent 3.5 MKII employs similar design characteristics to Atlas’s Mavros and Asimi cable ranges.
Available from June 2013, Atlas Ascent 3.5 MKII has a UK SRP of £200.00 per stereo meter and can be purchased in ready-terminated sets using Atlas’ cold-weld connectors and a choice of Expanding Rhodium plugs or teflon dielectric OCC Spades..
Commenting on the new Ascent 3.5 MKII, Kevin Kelly, Managing Director of Atlas Cables, said, “We are constantly looking at ways that we can improve our products to give our customers the most faithful reproduction possible. The upgrade to the Ascent 3.5 to MKII status has been brought about thanks to our continued research into the effects different materials make to the performance and we are delighted with the results.”
WyWires will debut three new products for 2013 at T.H.E. Show next week – the Platinum Series of speaker and interconnect cables, a new configuration of their Gold cables, and the Power Broker AC Distributor. These products may be found in the following rooms.
Platinum is a new wire formula that contains multiple gauges of Litz conductor wire. Gold is now based on Platinum (vs. Silver) and includes ByBee Purifiers. Gold speaker cables have a new look, and the ByBee Purifiers are now housed in a cherrywood box for “improved resonance control”.
The Power Broker is priced $2499 (Silver) and $3999 (Gold)
US audio cable manufacturer, DH Labs has announced the latest in their range of loudspeaker cables, the Deity Speaker Cable. The cable has been designed to be used in high-end audio systems and the company claims it delivers “the most accurate and uncoloured signal transmission possible, along with extraordinary harmonics and tonal balance”.
The Deity loudspeaker cable is said to be built to “exact tolerances and is hand terminated by skilled craftsmen”.
The cable is made up of 12 individually insulated pure silver conductors (20 awg) in an interleaved helical array encompassing two silver-coated Continuous Crystal conductors (14 awg).
DH Labs proprietary Air-PTFE dielectric is tape wrapped around each conductor and the company say this offers the lowest dielectric loss of any commercially available cable.
Made in the USA the Deity cable is available with either silver spades or bananas.
6ft lengths are $4900, 8ft lengths are $5900, 10ft lengths $6900 and 12ft lengths $7900. Available now.
British audio cable manufacturer, Black Rhodium has announced the launch of its latest stereo interconnect named Tempo.
The design of Tempo is based very closely on the company’s Coda interconnect cable with two differences: The Silicone rubber type GPC insulation of the 19 individual 16-gauge silver plated copper conductors has been increased from a thickness of 0.6mm to 1.2mm to “reduce Transient Phase Distortion” and the cables are now encased in a violet coloured expandable braid.
TEMPO cables are twisted together, “thus preventing the cable acting as a “loop aerial” for airborne radio frequency interference which can cause audible distortion to the sound quality” and Eichmann Bullet RCA phono plugs are fitted.
Price is £200 for a 0.5m pair and £225 for a 1m pair.
