Forte Distribution has announced that the Shanling EH2 DAC/amplifier is now available in the U.S.
This compact desktop unit is designed to provide high-fidelity sound with a focus on both performance and affordability.
24BIT R2R DAC DESIGN
At the heart of the Shanling EH2 is a 24bit R2R DAC, inspired by the classic Burr-Brown PCM1704 architecture. The EH2 delivers up to 4.3W @ 32Ω via its 4.4mm balanced output, providing ample power for demanding headphones. For standard single-ended headphones, the 6.35mm output offers 1.3W @ 32Ω, making the unit versatile for various headphone types.
SHANLING EH2 DAC/AMPLIFIER
Beyond headphones, the Shanling EH2 features RCA and 4.4mm line-out/pre-out connections, driven by the OPA1612 amplifier. This low-noise, low-distortion circuit ensures clean R2R output for use with active speakers and power amplifiers.
The Shanling EH2 DAC/Amplifier improves upon its predecessor, the EH1, with an XMOS XU316 module for USB input. It also includes a Qualcomm QCC5125 chip for Bluetooth 5.2, supporting high-resolution LDAC and aptX codecs. The front panel houses controls for volume, tone, gain, and source selection, alongside the dual headphone outputs.
The EH2 supports high-resolution audio formats, including PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD512. It features USB-C, coaxial, optical, and Bluetooth inputs, ensuring broad compatibility with various digital sources.
