REGA ND9 MOVING MAGNET CARTRIDGE LAUNCHED AS NEW FLAGSHIP IN ND RANGE
Rega has introduced the new Rega Nd9 Moving Magnet Cartridge, expanding the Nd moving magnet range that originally launched in Spring 2024.
The British HiFi brand says that more than 35,000 Nd-series cartridges have shipped globally since release, with the Rega ND9 positioned as the reference model in the family, replacing the Rega Nd7 as the new top tier model in the range.
REGA ND9 MOVING MAGNET CARTRIDGE
The Rega ND9 Moving Magnet Cartridge has been developed to achieve higher performance within Rega’s moving magnet approach. It incorporates the brand’s Neodymium magnet system alongside a Boron cantilever and a fine line stylus profile, technology typically found in higher-end moving coil designs.
Rega states that the engineering challenge centred on linking the Nd magnet to the Boron rod, a task solved with support from a specialist watchmaker who created an ultra-fine, dual-diameter connecting tube.
BORON CANTILEVER DESIGN AND FINE LINE STYLUS
The Boron cantilever is fitted with a nude fine line diamond stylus, selected for precision and tracking accuracy. Boron’s low mass and rigidity help minimise flexing, aiming to deliver more accurate transmission of groove information and reduced distortion. According to Rega, this combination is intended to extract higher levels of detail from vinyl surfaces while maintaining stable tracking.

The Rega Nd9 Moving Magnet Cartridge will also be offered as a factory-fitted option on the Planar 8 turntable at launch. Customers selecting this option will receive a discounted upgrade within the package.
