Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista Vinyl S Phono Stage
MUSICAL FIDELITY NU-VISTA VINYL S PHONO STAGE LAUNCHED
Musical Fidelity has introduced the new Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista Vinyl S Phono Stage, designed as a source component to complement the Nu-Vista 600.2 and 800.2 integrated amplifiers.
The unit adopts the Nu-Vista design language and aims to provide a flexible analogue front end for vinyl-focused systems. In the UK, it is available through distributor Henley Audio.
MUSICAL FIDELITY NU-VISTA VINYL S PHONO STAGE
The Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista Vinyl S draws on the company’s flagship Nu-Vista Vinyl 2, incorporating a fully balanced and discrete layout with eight 7586 nuvistor valves. It is housed in a newly developed, smaller chassis intended to match the latest Nu-Vista series components.
Musical Fidelity has equipped the Nu-Vista Vinyl S with two balanced XLR and two unbalanced RCA inputs, as well as balanced and unbalanced outputs. Controls include gain, capacitance, impedance and equalisation settings, plus a two-stage subsonic filter, allowing the phono stage to accommodate a wide variety of MM and MC cartridges.

PHONO STAGE ARCHITECTURE
The Nu-Vista Vinyl S employs three gain stages built around Class A discrete transistor circuitry. Musical Fidelity notes that a discrete topology was chosen following listening tests, favouring its flexibility over integrated circuit–based designs. The fully balanced configuration aims to maintain signal integrity and minimise noise across the circuit.

Its equalisation stage uses a split-passive approach in two sections, with RIAA, DECCA and COLUMBIA EQ options available. The design is intended to support more accurate curve reproduction and improved impedance matching.
POWER SUPPLY AND INTERNAL ENGINEERING
The Nu-Vista Vinyl S follows Musical Fidelity’s established approach of using super-silent power transformer systems. A toroidal transformer with EMI filtering, DC blocking and low electromagnetic radiation is combined with symmetrical low-noise power supplies. Each discrete amplifier stage uses DC servo control, and all balanced nuvistor power supplies are passively filtered and regulated.
The new chassis employs extruded aluminium panels for rigidity and resistance to external vibration. Its display layout is taken directly from the Nu-Vista Vinyl 2, and the accompanying slim remote control allows settings adjustment from the listening position.

MUSICAL FIDELITY NU-VISTA VINYL S PHONO STAGE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Key specifications include frequency response deviations of ±0.25dB for MM and ±0.3dB for MC, selectable gain stages up to 69dB on XLR output, MM impedance fixed at 47kΩ, MC impedance selectable between 5–47kΩ, and RIAA/DECCA/COLUMBIA EQ support. Subsonic filters offer Off, Mild (IEC), and Standard modes. The unit weighs 14kg and measures 483 × 131 × 404mm.

MUSICAL FIDELITY NU-VISTA VINYL S PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
