MAGICO S7 2026 CONCLUDES THE UPDATED S SERIES

Magico S7 2026 Loudspeaker hifi news

Magico has announced the Magico S7 2026, the final model in the updates of its long-running S Series loudspeaker range.

The five-driver, three-way Magico S7 2026 floorstander weighs 384lbs (174kg) and is positioned as the flagship of the series.

The S Series was refreshed in recent years with the S3 in 2023, followed by the S5 and later the S2. The Magico S7 2026 now completes that line-up, bringing a larger enclosure and updated driver and crossover technologies to the range.

MAGICO S7 2026 LOUDSPEAKER

The Magico S7 2026 was developed using extensive measurement and modelling techniques. During its design, Magico employed a Near-Field Scanner (NFS) system to capture acoustic data across a full 3D sphere around the loudspeaker. This process enabled analysis of both on- and off-axis performance, allowing refinements to frequency response and dispersion characteristics. According to Magico, the engineering approach used during the S7’s development has also informed work on its flagship M Series models.

ENCLOSURE AND CABINET DESIGN

The Magico S7 2026 features a large aluminium enclosure with a curved and sculpted form. The cabinet was shaped using 3D simulation tools to reduce internal resonances and increase rigidity. A curved front baffle is used to help minimise diffraction.

Magico states that Laser Vibrometer analysis was used to identify and address cabinet vibrations during development. The internal volume has been increased to 180 litres, up from 135 litres in the previous S Series flagship. This change is said to extend bass response by 5Hz while maintaining the same sensitivity.

MAGICO S7 2026 DRIVER TECHNOLOGY

At the core of the Magico S7 2026 is the company’s Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone material, which uses an aluminium-honeycomb core with graphene-reinforced carbon-fibre skins. A newly developed third-generation driver chassis has also been introduced, designed to improve structural rigidity and airflow while reducing resonance.

The S7 employs a vertically aligned triple-woofer configuration, a layout first seen in the company’s M Project loudspeaker, intended to reduce floor-bounce effects and improve in-room midbass performance.

FIVE-DRIVER CONFIGURATION

High frequencies are handled by a 28mm diamond-coated pure-beryllium tweeter derived from the M Series, driven by a neodymium motor system. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling was used to optimise the tweeter’s rear chamber.

Midrange is delivered by a 6-inch Nano-Tec Gen 8 driver with a 3-inch titanium voice coil, copper cap and neodymium magnets.

Bass is produced by three 10-inch Nano-Tec Gen 8 woofers, each featuring a 5-inch titanium voice coil, copper cap and 0.5-inch linear excursion. The system is specified to reach down to 20Hz.

CROSSOVER AND COMPONENTS

The five drivers are integrated using Magico’s Elliptical Symmetry Crossover (ESXO), a three-way design using 24dB Linkwitz-Riley acoustic slopes. The crossover includes components from Mundorf and, for the first time in an S Series model, CAST PP Radial capacitors from Duelund Coherent Audio.

Magico states that the design aims to maintain phase and frequency linearity while reducing intermodulation distortion.

FINISH OPTIONS AND SUPPORT SYSTEM

The Magico S7 2026 will be available in six Softec powder coat finishes and six High Gloss automotive-style finishes. The loudspeaker is supported by a three-foot support system incorporating constrained-layer damping to enhance mechanical stability.
