LUMIN U2X NETWORK TRANSPORT ADDS FLAGSHIP FEATURES TO MID-RANGE
The new LUMIN U2X Network Transport expands LUMIN’s digital streaming range with a model that draws on technologies from the brand’s flagship X1 player.
The LUMIN U2X replaces the previous U1X and is designed for audiophiles looking to maximise digital audio performance from high-resolution streaming sources.
LUMIN U2X NETWORK TRANSPORT
At the heart of the LUMIN U2X Network Transport is LUMIN’s newest System-on-Chip (SoC), offering a notable improvement in processing power. This supports high-level digital audio processing, including upsampling and advanced signal management. The U2X handles files up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512, making it compatible with virtually all current high-resolution formats and streaming services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, and TuneIn.
PRECISION CLOCKING AND USB ISOLATION
A key design highlight of the LUMIN U2X Network Transport is its implementation of a 10MHz clock system, which can operate as either master or slave to external digital devices. This allows for highly accurate synchronisation and improved jitter control. Say Lumin. In addition, the U2X features a dedicated isolated USB output, helping to reduce interference by separating the DAC and streaming system from the network.
U2X SHARES POWER SUPPLY TECHNOLOGY WITH FLAGSHIP MODEL
Borrowing from LUMIN’s flagship X1, the LUMIN U2X Network Transport includes a low-noise external power supply. This contributes to reduced electrical interference and supports the clean, detailed sound quality LUMIN is known for. The compact chassis is available in either natural or black anodised aluminium, continuing the brand’s sleek and minimalist aesthetic.
VERSATILE OUTPUTS AND SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY
The LUMIN U2X Network Transport includes a comprehensive range of digital outputs: USB, SPDIF, AES/EBU, and TOSLINK. The updated LUMIN app brings improved playlist management and streamlined browsing across iOS, Android, Chromebook, and Apple Silicon devices. The U2X is also Roon Ready and compatible with Audirvana, making it a flexible choice for a wide range of digital playback systems.

The LUMIN U2X Network Transport will be available in the UK from August 2025 in a choice of natural or black anodised aluminium finishes. The suggested retail price is £8,995 (inc VAT). Available through Sound Design Distribution in the UK.
