JICO CLIPPER-S CARTRIDGE DESIGNED FOR STRAIGHT TONEARMS
Japanese cartridge manufacturer JICO has introduced the JICO Clipper-S, a new Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge and headshell system made for straight tonearms.
The model joins JICO’s C-REVO line and extends the company’s Clipper range, which previously focused on S- and J-shaped tonearms.
JICO CLIPPER-S MM CARTRIDGE
The JICO Clipper-S follows the original Clipper cartridge, which was designed for curved tonearms. This new version addresses the different alignment requirements of straight-arm turntables, which have become more common among current vinyl users. The design aims to ensure accurate alignment and consistent performance by preventing the misalignment that can occur when standard headshells are used with straight tonearms.
At the core of the JICO Clipper-S is an angled headshell engineered to maintain proper cartridge geometry on straight tonearms. According to JICO, this design helps achieve correct tracking and reduces the risk of record wear, supporting balanced playback across the record surface.
CONSTRUCTION AND STYLUS DESIGN
The JICO Clipper-S features a tapered S-cantilever designed to balance low mass with rigidity. The cartridge is fitted with a solid conical diamond stylus intended to offer clear and natural sound reproduction. This combination continues JICO’s focus on precise mechanical design and materials selection.
COMPATIBILITY AND APPLICATIONS
The JICO Clipper-S is compatible with JICO’s MM Clipper stylus as well as SHURE-44 replacement styli. It also works with KORG’s handytraxx models, including the handytraxx Tube and handytraxx 1bit portable turntables. This broad compatibility allows the Clipper-S to be used with a variety of turntable types and setups.
MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN
As part of JICO’s C-REVO series, the Clipper-S is produced in Japan. The model continues JICO’s established approach to cartridge manufacturing, combining technical precision with in-house production.
