FiiO DM15 R2R PORTABLE CD PLAYER LAUNCHES WITH CUSTOM R2R DAC
FiiO has introduced the new FiiO DM15 R2R, a portable CD player that combines traditional disc playback with modern digital features.
The new model succeeds the DM13 and adds higher output power, an upgraded R2R DAC and broader connectivity options.

The FiiO DM15 R2R is built around five primary modules: a CD servo, a USB DAC section, a custom R2R conversion stage, a Bluetooth module and a dedicated microcontroller. This configuration is designed to offer flexible playback whether used as a standalone CD player or as part of a wider HiFi system.
Compared with the earlier DM13, the DM15 R2R delivers increased output power. Single-ended outputs now provide 310 mW + 310 mW, while balanced connections reach 1150 mW + 1150 mW. This additional headroom is intended to support a wider range of headphones, including more demanding pairs.
FIIO DM15 R2R R2R DAC IMPLEMENTATION
Central to the device is FiiO’s own fully differential, four-channel R2R DAC. It uses 192 precision thin-film resistors, 48 per channel, selected for tight tolerance and stability. The design aims to offer a characterful interpretation of CD playback while retaining present-day clarity and precision.
DIGITAL FEATURES AND CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS
The DM15 R2R includes a high-resolution USB DAC capable of PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit and native DSD256. A Qualcomm QCC3095 Bluetooth transmitter supports aptX, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD and SBC, enabling wireless output from both CD and USB sources.
Users can adjust playback with three BASS modes and eight EQ presets, creating up to 24 combinations. A “RETRO” preset is included for those seeking a more analogue-style presentation. The player also supports CD ripping to WAV files on both PC and Mac while simultaneously playing the disc.
The unit features a lightweight enclosure finished with a tempered-glass lid that displays the disc inside. Physical controls include mechanical buttons, a traditional volume dial and an included remote. A clear display assists navigation whether used portably or at home.

A 4700 mAh lithium battery provides around seven hours of use. The DM15 R2R includes electronic skip protection for portable listening and a Desktop Mode that bypasses the battery when powered externally.
