FERRUM BROEN NETWORK STREAMING TRANSPORT LAUNCHES AT WARSAW AND PARIS AUDIO VIDEO SHOWS

Polish HiFi brand Ferrum has announced the pre-release of its first network streaming transport, the Ferrum BROEN, which will appear at this year’s Audio Video Show in Warsaw and the Paris Audio Video Show.
BROEN is designed as a digital transport to connect network sources with DACs, expanding Ferrum’s growing ecosystem of HiFi components.
FERRUM BROEN NETWORK STREAMING TRANSPORT
The Ferrum BROEN represents Ferrum’s first step into network streaming, building on the company’s Ferrum Streaming Control Technology (FSCT). FSCT was first introduced in a firmware update for Ferrum’s WANDLA DACs and allows direct integration and control between devices. The name BROEN, meaning “bridge” in Danish, reflects the product’s purpose as a connection between the network and the digital domain.

DESIGN AND DIGITAL ARCHITECTURE OF FERRUM BROEN
The Ferrum BROEN follows the same design philosophy seen in Ferrum’s earlier products such as HYPSOS, focusing on the foundation of the digital transport process. At its core is Ferrum’s SERCE Digital-to-Digital Converter module, which manages all digital processes internally for improved precision. The unit features galvanically isolated outputs and clear separation between input and output domains. BROEN can connect via Wi-Fi or through an SFP port that supports both Ethernet and optical modules, allowing for flexible and low-noise network connections.
FERRUM BROEN AND WANDLA INTEGRATION
When combined with Ferrum’s WANDLA DACs, the BROEN integrates fully through FSCT. Users can operate streaming functions directly from WANDLA’s touchscreen or remote control, with track information displayed on the DAC’s screen. This integration creates a complete and unified digital system.
FERRUM BROEN AND HYPSOS COMBINATION
The Ferrum BROEN can also be paired with the HYPSOS power supply through Ferrum’s proprietary Power Link connection, which provides voltage sensing for optimised performance. Ferrum notes that this combination allows both units to operate at their highest potential as part of a flagship streaming setup.
POWERED BY VOLUMIO SOFTWARE
The Ferrum BROEN operates on the Volumio platform, providing access to a wide range of streaming services including Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, and web radio. It also supports AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA, Bluetooth playback, CD playback, and multi-room audio. Playback from USB drives, NAS, or internal SSD storage is supported. Users can control the BROEN via a mobile app, browser, or directly from its front panel.
FUTURE-READY DESIGN AND FEATURES
The Ferrum BROEN includes over-the-air firmware updates and plugin support. It has an internal M.2 NVMe SSD slot for local storage and an SFP socket that can be used with either standard Ethernet or optical modules. These features are designed to ensure compatibility and longevity as streaming technologies evolve.
KEY FEATURES OF FERRUM BROEN
The Ferrum BROEN offers a number of notable features, including:
• SERCE Digital-to-Digital Converter module
• FSCT integration with Ferrum DACs
• Ultra-low jitter audio clocks
• Galvanically isolated outputs
• Multiple playback sources including USB, NAS, and streaming services
