EDWARDS AUDIO AT NWAS 2025 WITH TWO NEW PHONOSTAGES
Edwards Audio returns to the North West Audio Show 2025 with the latest iteration of its popular moving magnet phono stage, the Edwards Audio Apprentice MM MK4.
This fourth-generation model introduces a range of upgrades over its predecessor, with the headline improvements being a newly refined internal power supply and a non-magnetic aluminium chassis.
These updates aim to further reduce interference and enhance transparency, while also improving energy efficiency — dropping power consumption from 3W to just 1W.
EDWARDS AUDIO APPRENTICE MM MK4 PHONOSTAGE
The Edwards Audio Apprentice MM Mk4 retains the core specifications that helped its previous iterations earn strong reviews. It offers 42.5dB of gain, fixed 47KΩ input loading, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 81dB at 5mV. With a wide frequency response from 10Hz to 100kHz (±3dB) and RIAA accuracy of ±0.25dB, the Mk4 delivers on the brand’s commitment to analogue precision. Housed in a robust black metal case with a 3mm aluminium front panel, the Mk4 is designed to look discreet in a modern HiFi rack.
INTRO MM JOINS THE LINE-UP AS EDWARDS AUDIO’S ENTRY-LEVEL OFFERING
Also debuting at Cranage 2025 is the Edwards Audio Intro MM — a new entry-level phono stage that aims to deliver genuine HiFi performance at a modest price. Priced at £99.95 including VAT, the Intro MM is designed for vinyl lovers seeking an affordable path into quality vinyl playback. Built in the UK and housed in a compact non-magnetic aluminium enclosure, it features the same 42.5dB gain and fixed 47KΩ input loading as its more costly sibling.
Despite its smaller footprint and lower cost, the Edwards Audio Intro MM doesn’t skimp on technical capability. With a signal-to-noise ratio of 80dB, output impedance below 10Ω, and frequency response extending from 10Hz to 100kHz, the Intro MM is engineered for clean, dynamic playback. It’s powered by an external low-noise plug-top PSU.
UK-BUILT PHONO STAGES
Both the Edwards Audio Apprentice MM Mk4 and Intro MM are hand-built in Wiltshire, continuing the company’s tradition of UK-based manufacturing.
