Whilst in London for the Launch of the brand new Chord Poly we thought we’d take the opportunity to visit a place that has been on our must see list ever since Kevin and Lynn from Living Voice told us about it, and their involvement with it.

So, what do Kate Middleton and a High-End music on the go (or at home for that matter) streamer/player have in common? Hifi Pig visited London’s rather swanky Goring Hotel in Belgravia to find out at the launch of Chord Poly.  More »

Hifi Pig’s second and final report from The Indulgence Show 2017. Hundreds of pics from the show and minimal waffle…we know you want the pics.  More »

Now in just its second year The Indulgence Show, Hammersmith, London took place last weekend and what a great show it was. The team from Indulgence have improved massively on the first year with better signposting and more exhibitors.
For me personally the show felt buzzy but not over busy. One of my pet hates with some shows is that visitors get to rooms, find most of the seats are taken and then stand in the doorway blocking everyone else’s access…quite often when there are still seats available. The Indulgence Show, whilst still having a decent flow of traffic through most rooms, allowed visitors to get into the rooms and have a good listen. This is a good thing in my book and, having spoken to a number of people about this since the show, massively busy shows can be off putting for some. My one gripe about the venue is that is is oddly laid out and can get a little confusing for first time visitors, but you do soon get the hang of where things are.

The Show took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday but given the vagaries of transport connections from France we arrived late on the Friday evening, grabbed a drink and went out to dinner with Dan George of Dan George Communications and the good people from Chord Electronics…thanks guys. Saturday morning we grabbed a quick breakfast, set up our cameras etc and off we went to explore a few rooms before getting ready for our little event in the Cognac Suite where we had a live DJ (Adam Billingham AKA Fray Bentos) playing through a Chord Electronics amp, chord cables and a pair of Ophidian P2 loudspeakers.

Anyway, enough of my waffle, read the report part 1 including 3 Square Audio, Wire On Wire, Ophidian and Karma AV.  More »

As children, when we lost a toy, we were taught to ‘retrace our steps’. To go back over the very recent past to find what we had lost. And Natterers are retracing hardcore punk’s steps to recover what has been lost in recent years. More »

In a world that is becoming ever more geared towards an online experience there are some people that are looking to take us back to a time when you could interact with real sales people and experience what you are looking to buy before actually handing over your hard earned. It’s refreshing then to see that David Brook (Of MCRU fame) has seen the potential in adding a bricks and mortar presence to his portfolio in the shape of his new shop Brook Audio on Brook Street (a coincidence David tells us) in the Yorkshire town of Huddersfield. Asking David about the move he said that human interaction is still alive in the audiophile world and people of a certain age prefer the personal touch which a proper shop provides. More »

Now in its fourth year at Cranage (North West Audio Show) has gone from strength to strength. The decision to keep it at one venue and over a full weekend was a wise one. The beauty of the show is that it is free to enter for the public and is set in a great country location near Jodrell Bank. More »

In the last four years the Cranage show has really become established. It is now a firm fixture on the Hifi show calendar with exhibitors and visitors alike loving the sumptuous surroundings, free parking and free entry and the general atmosphere of the show. It really is a breath of fresh air, Cranage Hall itself is the perfect mix of conferencing/event facilities and hotel, so there are rooms to suit all exhibitors. The layout also makes it easy to follow the flow of the show with exhibitors grouped into different areas. Being a two day show now takes the pressure off the exhibitors and has given it a very chilled out feel and the visitors certainly appreciated having more time to enjoy the ever growing list of rooms. This year there were over 40 exhibitors in total showing a wide variety of gear, from the more affordable to the higher end.

I love the North West Audio Show at Cranage Hall which is now in its fifth year. Kris, the organiser of the show has done a brilliant job of putting together a show that about as good as it gets in my opinion, and judging by the smiling faces at the show this year, so do many others. Kris has listened to the public and as the years have gone by North West Audio show has evolved accordingly to what it is today. Hifi Pig is immensely proud to be exclusive media partner for the show.

The 2018 North West Audio Show will still be at the amazing Cranage Hall in Cheshire again, will again be over two days and promises to be bigger and even better than this year’s …if that is even possible. Dates are now confirmed as Saturday and Sunday 23-24 June 2018.  More »
