Cambridge Audio L/R Series Active Speakers
CAMBRIDGE AUDIO L/R SERIES ACTIVE SPEAKERS LAUNCHED
British HiFi brand Cambridge has launched the Cambridge Audio L/R Series Active Speakers, a new range of active stereo speakers designed to combine amplification, streaming and loudspeaker technology into self-contained systems for home use.
The Cambridge Audio L/R Series consists of three active speaker models: the Cambridge Audio L/R X, Cambridge Audio L/R M and Cambridge Audio L/R S. The new range is designed and engineered in London, with availability planned across 2026.
CAMBRIDGE AUDIO L/R SERIES ACTIVE SPEAKERS
The Cambridge Audio L/R Series is positioned as a family of active speaker systems rather than traditional passive loudspeakers. Each model is supplied as a stereo pair and intended to operate without an external amplifier. The three models are designed for different room sizes and use cases, from compact desktop listening to larger living spaces.

STREAMMAGIC INTEGRATION
Two of the models, L/R X and L/R M, include Cambridge Audio’s StreamMagic Gen 4 streaming platform. This enables Wi-Fi or Ethernet playback and access to services including TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, internet radio and UPnP, with Roon Ready certification also included. Multi-room support is available via Google Cast and Apple AirPlay 2.
The smallest model, L/R S, is aimed at nearfield and smaller-space listening. It does not include StreamMagic, instead focusing on Bluetooth aptX HD wireless playback alongside physical connections such as USB Audio for computers. The design is intended for desks, bedrooms or kitchens, offering a simplified setup compared with the larger models.

ACOUSTIC DESIGN
Both L/R X and L/R M use a 2.5-way acoustic configuration and introduce a new 28mm Torus tweeter developed by Cambridge Audio. The L/R X is the largest model, using twin 5-inch woofers alongside dual 6-inch force-cancelling passive radiators, while L/R M adopts a scaled-down approach intended for smaller rooms.

CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS
Connectivity across the Cambridge Audio L/R Series is designed to cover a wide range of sources. L/R X and L/R M include HDMI eARC for TV integration, Bluetooth wireless playback, analogue and digital inputs, and a built-in moving-magnet phono stage for turntables. Speaker-to-speaker connection can be made via USB-C or wirelessly using WiSA HT, allowing more flexible placement.
CAMBRIDGE AUDIO L/R SERIES DESIGN AND FINISHES
All three speakers in the Cambridge Audio L/R Series share a consistent design approach, with cabinets described as intentionally bold and audio-focused. Each model will be offered in six colour and finish options, including a Real Walnut variant. According to Cambridge Audio, the emphasis has been on visual confidence alongside practical domestic integration.
