BEOLAB 90 PHANTOM EDITION AND MIRAGE EDITION UNVEILED BY BANG & OLUFSEN
Bang & Olufsen has revealed two new design-led versions of its flagship loudspeaker as part of the brand’s centenary celebration: the Beolab 90 Phantom Edition and the Beolab 90 Mirage Edition.
Both models sit within a series of five special Atelier-crafted editions, including the Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition, each produced in just ten pairs worldwide.
BANG & OLUFSEN BEOLAB 90 PHANTOM EDITION
The Beolab 90 Phantom Edition presents a monochromatic, deep-black finish that emphasises contrast and form. It uses semi-transparent black PVD metal mesh to expose the loudspeaker’s internal structure, creating shifting visual depth depending on the angle.
Bang & Olufsen has integrated hand-layered carbon fibre across the Phantom Edition’s shoulder plates, sculptural face mask and base panels. This material choice introduces a motorsport-inspired aesthetic while reducing weight and adding rigidity.
The Phantom Edition’s aluminium skeleton features pearl-blasted surfaces and unified structural beams. Precision-machined trim details complete the exterior, offering a clean, engineered look that aligns with the speaker’s technical character.
BANG & OLUFSEN BEOLAB 90 MIRAGE EDITION
Standing as a visual counterpoint to the Phantom version, the Beolab 90 Mirage Edition prioritises colour and surface treatment. Its iridescent fabric cover shifts between sapphire and magenta, designed to echo the movement of light and sound.
Mirage Edition incorporates five aluminium components per loudspeaker, each receiving a bespoke gradient anodisation. These parts feature wave-inspired textures, with the gradients produced through artisan processes inside Bang & Olufsen’s dedicated anodisation facility.
The finishing of the Mirage Edition relies heavily on manual polishing and custom colour development. The result is a highly individualised presentation that positions the Mirage Edition as a statement piece for design-focused listeners.
LIMITED-EDITION SERIES FOR THE CENTENARY YEAR
Both the Phantom and Mirage Editions are the second and third models in a series of five Atelier-made Anniversary Editions, marking Bang & Olufsen’s 100-year milestone. Originally launched in 2015, the Beolab 90 remains the brand’s most advanced loudspeaker, incorporating 18 drivers and beam-forming technology. These Anniversary Editions maintain the same acoustic platform, with the new versions focused entirely on design and craft refinement.
GLOBAL PRESENTATION OF BEOLAB 90 PHANTOM AND MIRAGE EDITIONS
The two new Anniversary Editions were unveiled at Bang & Olufsen’s newly opened San Francisco Culture Store, the brand’s largest showroom worldwide. The models will tour internationally, offering prospective clients the chance to experience the designs in person.
