AVID Velsonic Phono Stage
AVID VELSONIC PHONO STAGE LAUNCHED AS NEW FLAGSHIP ANALOGUE DESIGN
British HiFi brand AVID has announced the launch of the AVID Velsonic phono stage, its first entirely new phono stage design since 2012.
Developed in Cambridgeshire, the Velsonic replaces the long-standing Pulsare II and Pellere models, marking a significant update to the company’s analogue electronics range. The new model is positioned as a reference-level component within AVID’s portfolio.

AVID VELSONIC PHONO STAGE
The Velsonic builds on existing AVID design principles rather than introducing a completely new architecture. Drawing on technologies developed for the company’s Reference Pre Amplifier, the design incorporates revised circuitry and updated components aimed at improving overall performance. AVID states that attention has been given to reducing noise and refining signal handling throughout the unit.
FULLY ANALOGUE SIGNAL PATH
The AVID Velsonic maintains a fully analogue, dual-mono configuration with no digital circuitry included. This approach is intended to preserve signal integrity and minimise potential interference. The internal layout and signal paths have been optimised with a focus on reducing unwanted noise and maintaining channel separation.
EXPANDED CONTROL AND CARTRIDGE MATCHING
A key aspect of the Velsonic is its expanded adjustment options. The unit offers a wider range of gain settings, allowing users to better match output levels with other system components. In addition, increased resistance loading options provide greater flexibility when pairing with different cartridges, enabling more precise system setup.

ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
The phono stage features a precision-engineered chassis and updated isolation feet designed to limit mechanical interference. AVID has also revised the power supply regulation, aiming to improve stability and consistency in operation. The use of cascaded components derived from higher-end designs forms part of the overall engineering approach.
AVID VELSONIC PHONO STAGE POSITION IN THE RANGE
With the discontinuation of the Pulsare II and Pellere models, the Velsonic becomes AVID’s primary standalone phono stage offering. The product reflects the company’s continued focus on analogue playback systems, which remain central to its broader range of turntables, tonearms, cartridges, amplification and accessories.

AVID VELSONIC PHONO STAGE PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The AVID Velsonic phono stage will be available through authorised dealers from May 2026. Pricing is set at £11,995.00 / €15,995.00 / $19,995.00.
