First seen at the UK HiFi Show Live at Ascot last month, the Audio Resurgence The Kraken Amplifiers mark the rebirth of a classic British HiFi brand.

HERITAGE AND HISTORY
The launch of Audio Resurgence marks the rebirth of one of Britain’s most distinctive audio legacies. Its roots reach back to Alchemist Products, the British HiFi company founded in 1989. Known for its bold engineering and sculptural design, Alchemist achieved international recognition through ranges such as Forseti, The Alchemist, and the original Kraken amplifiers.
The creative team behind Alchemist included Andy Light, Glen Gayle, and the late Tim de Paravicini, three figures whose combined expertise defined the brand’s identity. Andy Light created Alchemist’s unmistakable industrial aesthetic, while Glen Gayle’s circuit designs delivered its acclaimed sonic character. Tim de Paravicini, brought his technical mastery to Alchemist’s later statement and Signature Series models.
AUDIO RESURGENCE CONTINUES THE LEGACY
Decades later, that same spirit returns through Audio Resurgence. The new venture continues the principles that made Alchemist unique, innovation, craftsmanship, and distinctive British design, while reinterpreting them for today’s listeners. The company describes itself as a continuation rather than a revival, fusing heritage with a forward-looking approach to high-end audio.
THE INFLUENCE OF TIM DE PARAVICINI
Although Tim de Paravicini has since passed away, his influence remains integral to Audio Resurgence’s philosophy. His ideas and design ethos are said to inform the engineering of the company’s forthcoming products, ensuring that his commitment to sonic excellence continues to shape the brand’s identity. His legacy will be reflected in future releases that build upon the foundation he helped to create.

Audio Resurgence’s first product, the Audio Resurgence The Kraken Evolution AR6A Integrated Amplifier, reintroduces one of Alchemist’s most recognisable designs in a contemporary form. Reimagined and re-engineered, this integrated amplifier promises Class A performance and a focus on musical purity. The design retains the visual presence and craftsmanship of the original while incorporating refinements developed through modern engineering techniques.
Audio Resurgence say the new Kraken Evolution AR6A retains its original circuit design, but a significantly evolved heatsink profile has allowed it to gain more class A performance. The concentric volume and selector keeps the input signal tracks as short as possible. It is still available with a choice of single or upgraded double external power supplies and a a plug in phono module if required.
At the UK HiFi Show Live 2025 at Ascot, Audio Resurgence also showed The Kraken Pre and Power amplifiers.
FUTURE MODELS
While details of future releases remain under wraps, Audio Resurgence has confirmed plans to expand its range beyond The Kraken. They have hinted at a Tim de Paravicini “Signature Series” and a “Designer Series” from Glen Gayle, his first all new design in 30 years…more to follow on these soon! Each model will reportedly draw on the design and sonic philosophy established by Alchemist, combining modern components with the classic engineering principles that shaped the brand’s past achievements.
