Atlas Cables of Scotland has announced the Atlas Hyper RCA R1, Atlas Hyper RCA Sub R1, and Atlas Hyper RCA Duo R1 interconnect cables.

The cables expand the company’s Hyper range and are intended for use in analogue HiFi systems as signal and subwoofer interconnects.

The new models use Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper conductors and are designed with screening and construction approaches intended to reduce noise and maintain signal integrity. The range includes a standard stereo interconnect, a dedicated subwoofer cable, and a higher-specification Duo version with an alternative topology.

ATLAS HYPER RCA R1

The Atlas Hyper RCA R1 is designed as an upgrade option within the company’s cable range, drawing on design principles developed for Atlas’s more advanced interconnects. The cable uses two identical OCC copper conductors arranged in a balanced internal layout and surrounded by a double-layer screen combining metallised foil and woven OFC shielding.

The cable is configured in a symmetrical pseudo-balanced arrangement. According to Atlas, this configuration is intended to improve the effectiveness of the screening and help manage noise within the signal path. The design also makes the cable directional, with the arrow on the connector intended to point away from the pre-amplifier.

The Hyper RCA R1 uses stranded OCC conductors and an expanded polyethylene dielectric. Atlas states that this dielectric material offers a high propagation velocity for signal transmission.

ATLAS HYPER RCA SUB R1 FOR SUBWOOFER CONNECTIONS

Alongside the standard interconnect, Atlas has introduced the Atlas Hyper RCA Sub R1, a version designed specifically for subwoofer connections. It shares the same construction approach as the Hyper RCA R1, including OCC copper conductors, symmetrical topology and screening using foil and braid.

The cable is fitted with Atlas Achromatic RCA plugs featuring OFC copper pins and a metal-to-metal crimped connection. Atlas manufactures the cables by hand and uses an airtight crimping process designed to maintain a consistent electrical contact without solder.

Both the Hyper RCA R1 and Hyper RCA Sub R1 are supplied with a black fabric outer finish and red and black Achromatic connectors.

ATLAS HYPER RCA DUO R1

The Atlas Hyper RCA Duo R1 sits above the standard Hyper RCA R1 in the range and uses what Atlas describes as a “Duo symmetrical pseudo-balanced” topology. In this configuration, the hot and cold conductors are each surrounded by their own precision-woven OFC screen.

At one end of the cable, each screen pair is connected to the cold connection so that noise currents can be drained to earth via the system’s 0V reference. This approach is intended to improve rejection of induced noise. As with the other models in the range, the cable is directional and the arrow on the plug should point away from the pre-amplifier.

The Duo R1 uses stranded OCC copper conductors and a foamed polyethylene dielectric. Atlas also notes that the hot and cold conductors are twisted in a controlled lay in order to improve resistance to electromagnetic interference.

ATLAS HYPER RCA R1 RANGE AND FINISH

The Atlas Hyper RCA R1 and Atlas Hyper RCA Duo R1 are available in a range of standard lengths including 0.5m, 0.75m, 1.0m and 1.5m, with longer options also offered. The cables use Atlas’s Achromatic RCA connectors with OCC copper pins and are finished with black fabric sleeving. The Hyper RCA Sub R1 is offered in longer lengths suitable for subwoofer placement.
