AUDIO GROUP DENMARK AAVIK M-880 MONO AMPLIFIER LAUNCHED
Audio Group Denmark has announced the launch of the Audio Group Denmark Aavik M-880 Mono Amplifier, a new reference-class mono power amplifier designed and handcrafted in Denmark.
The amplifier has been developed to meet the demands of modern, high-performance loudspeakers and sits at the top of Aavik’s current power amplification range.
Launched at the Audio Group Denmark HQ in Aalborg, HiFi PiG’s Stu and Lin will be bringing you their report from the exclusive event, where the Aavil M-880 mono amplifiers partnered the million euro Børresen M8 Gold Signature Loudspeakers.

AUDIO GROUP DENMARK AAVIK M-880 MONO AMPLIFIER
According to Audio Group Denmark, the Audio Group Denmark Aavik M-880 Mono Amplifier was developed in direct response to the requirements of the Børresen M8 Gold Signature loudspeaker. As loudspeaker designs have evolved in speed, resolution, and scale, the company states that conventional stereo amplifier designs were no longer sufficient. The M-880 is therefore conceived as a true mono amplifier, prioritising complete channel independence, power stability, and loudspeaker control as part of an integrated system approach.





CLASS A OPERATION
The Audio Group Denmark Aavik M-880 Mono Amplifier uses a reworked Class A amplification stage. Rather than following a traditional Class A design, the output stage maintains a bias that remains 0.63 V above the required current level at all times. This approach is intended to ensure continuous Class A operation regardless of load or signal conditions, while reducing operating temperatures compared with conventional Class A amplifiers, with the aim of improving long-term stability and reliability.
POWER OUTPUT AND LOAD CONTROL
Each Audio Group Denmark Aavik M-880 Mono Amplifier is rated at 400 W into 8 ohms, 800 W into 4 ohms, and approximately 1,300 W into 2 ohms. Output impedance is described as exceptionally low, resulting in a damping factor exceeding 1,000 into 8 ohms. These specifications are intended to support high levels of control when driving demanding loudspeaker loads.







POWER SUPPLY AND INTERNAL ARCHITECTURE
Instead of a traditional linear power supply, the M-880 uses four high-speed, low-noise switching power supplies, each rated at 500 W / 20 A. These are supported by a local energy storage bank rated at 266 mF, with a stated energy capacity of up to 1,050 J and peak current delivery of up to 130 A. Reduced heat dissipation allows energy storage to be positioned close to the output devices, shortening current paths and aiming to reduce noise and improve efficiency.
Noise management is addressed through a combination of proprietary technologies from Aavik and Ansuz, including Active Tesla Coils, Active Square Tesla Coils, third-generation Analogue Dither Technology, and Anti-Aerial Resonance Coils applied to internal wiring.
