San Francisco Duo Beatific Share New Single

A day ahead of its official release, San Francisco-based duo Beatific have premiered “Smile Dangerous,” the second single from upcoming debut EP Sunshine and first foray into synth-pop anthems after the sun-dappled folk-pop of lead single “She Loves Him.”

“In our world, the distinction between genres is rather grey,” singer/songwriter Elad Marish told GroundSounds ahead of their premiere for “Smile.”

“An arena-sized chorus… with driving drums and layers of synth sounds, the track is reminiscent of bands like Big Data or Phoenix,” Surviving the Golden Age’s Adam Morgan raves. “Bright and energetic with a huge hook,” GroundSounds’ Jake Craney adds. “Any fan of synth-pop will love this one – we’ve been jamming it non-stop.”

Known for his sound design work, Marish was a songwriter long before becoming a respected industry figure and President of the American Association of Music Producers. While not Marish’s first band or side project by any means, Beatific is the first collaboration between him and Jeremy Black, the former drummer of Apollo Sunshine known more recently for his collaborations on the Bon Iver and The National-organized music festival PEOPLE.

Their collaborative debut EP, Sunshine, arrives December 6th.
