Entry Level Stax SR-L300 Electrostatic Headphones

Stax invented the world’s first electrostatic headphones in 1960.  Electrostats operate as di-poles, the sound comes out the front and rear, requiring a truly “Open Air” cage design with no surface area to create back-wave interference.

The Stax SR-L300 have a  Push-Pull electrostatic oval sound element with an Open-Air type enclosure. They have a frequency response of 7 Hz – 41 KHz and capacitance of 110 pF (including cable). The sensitivity is 101 dB / 100V r.m.s. 1 kHz. Max SPL is 112 dB and the bias voltageis 580V DC. Ear pads are synthetic leather and they come with an OFC parallel 6-strand, low-capacity wide cable that is 2.5m long. All Stax models must be paired with a matching DC Bias Energiser / Amp to generate the electrostatic field and deliver the audio signal to the stators.

The entry level SR-L300 sells for around $420 in the USA and £420 in the UK.
