One Compact Bar For TV Games And Music

The B200A is 600mm wide and weighs 1.8kg, so it should fit beneath many smaller televisions and desktop screens. Inside are two front speakers, each powered by 20 watts, plus a 30-watt built-in subwoofer. A subwoofer handles the low notes that give films, games and music more weight. Building it into the bar saves both floor space and the cost of another box.

Four sound modes cover Movie, Standard, Stereo and Game use. Yamaha also includes Bass Extension for a stronger low end and Clear Voice, which is designed to make speech easier to follow when effects or music become busy.

What Dolby Atmos Means Here

Dolby Atmos is a surround-sound format that can place effects around and above the listener. The B200A does not contain upward-firing speakers or separate rear speakers. Instead, it uses processing to create a wider, more spacious impression from one compact bar. That makes the feature easy to use, but it will not produce the same physical surround effect as a room full of speakers.

Connections And Controls

HDMI eARC/ARC is the simplest connection for a modern TV because it carries sound back from the television and normally lets the TV remote control the bar’s volume. Optical digital is available for older sets, while the 3.5mm input can take sound from a laptop, portable player or other analogue source. Bluetooth 5.3 provides a quick wireless route from a phone or tablet.

The supplied remote and Yamaha’s smartphone control app cover everyday adjustments. Wall mounting is also supported, although the B200A has no output for an external subwoofer and is not designed as the start of a larger surround-speaker system.
